seriously Seriously, Travis and I also sailed to Barbuda with Don. We believed we were also the only ones there, when lo and behold on our long walk on the beach we ran into an umbrella on the beach and as we got closer we could slowly make out a naked man on top of a naked woman! Yikes!!! Needless to say, we turned around and quickly walked the other way!
No perripheal vision! The sites in P.R. are very beautiful, now you have to really look twice for the drivers, they have a bad habit of cutting people off even in small streets. Worst .than New York drivers, I know I lived there all my life
next stop? Hi, I am trying to figure out which island to meet you on--just dreaming--what is you itinerary?I know its hard to plan a schedule when you are at sea.Keep up those logs and have fun,Margie
Dude that is too bad! I'm sorry you no longer have a boss or a silly little paycheck or all the other stuff to worry about :)
Of course I'm kidding :) Looks like you are doing exactly what you wanted ....but I think it is a bit longer than you originally intended?
Great Pics and Story So good to hear from you again; it has been quite awhile. That island sounds so beautiful; is it not on the paths of the cruise ships??? We are probably as hot in Denver as you are on the island, but no beautiful water, except the pool, to jump into. Love you
baskets hi, Things sound good for you. This trip sounds like real education. You have been away so long but I am sure you are forgetting about time.Love to see those baskets.xx M.
Thoroughly enjoyed a long-awaited update to your blog! Yours is my favorite blog to read and live vicariously through! Keep enjoying your time in the Carribean and keep the updates coming!
I wish I was there... again! Seeing your pictures and reading about the places you have been to, makes me miss it so much. Being so close to natures wonders. I agree, you have indeed captured the spirit of it all very well. Enjoy this island gem for all of us who are so for away.
Africa Tours Great Post! Very informative and a great read. I saw this site during my browsing and think it may be a relevant resource for your readers. www.journeyintoafrica.co.za , Keep up the great posts!
rum and hot springs Jen - Thanks for the update - Makes me want to head over to the Columbia Gorge and hike up some waterfall creeks - but there will not be any rum and hot springs to warm up with.
Thank you ! Dear Jen and Jay, what a great blog of your discoveries in Dominica. I am glad you are enjoying your visit here and telling the world how great it is. Dominica is still relatively undiscovered and unless you experience the adventures yourself it is just too amazing for words (although you have captured the spirt very well). Look forward to reading the rest of your adventures and I hope you have a great time.
Great Blog! Your blogs have been so helpful to us as we have been cruising in some of the same waters. I would put in a google search and your blog shows up!
Not sure if you have seen it, but there is a facebook for cruisers that is a great place to be able to connect with other cruisers for info or to share info...you should check it out.

Buried treasure on Cave Cay My wife and I visited Cave Cay in the summer of '85 or '86 after we earned thirteen sailing trophies in the Abacos to win the overall prize known as the Victor Ludorem Trophy. After venturing to Cave Cay we buried five or six of the silver platters inside some of the smaller but accessable caves with just an inch or two protruding from the sandy floor. We have often wondered in any of these items were found.

Felicity It' say under one of your pics. that the streets of Chaguanas all lit up with Christmas lights and deyas for Divali. But the village is Felicity and the road is Cacandee Road
Banana Plants The plastic bags are partially for pests, but mostly to speed up ripening; faster turnaround makes for a more efficient banana plant. Also, they aren't trees, which my children love to point out to me when I say it wrong. Our public schools are getting more efficient, too, I guess.
Fond memories for us Hi, Glad you finally made it to our wonderful home in St Lucia where we lived for a year.Yes, we had the bananas!Wish you could have gone to our village , Gros Islet where they had the jump-up every Fri and Sat night.Happy sailing!
I have spent a lot of time on Great Harbour as a child and now. My grandparents own a cottage on the island. I noticed that you said you wanted to go back because you really enjoyed the island. I just wanted to give you a few good ideas on what to do. Extremely close to shark creek is a beach that the locals call sand dollar beach. If you go at the perfect time (low tide) you will see more sand dollars and star fish than you have ever seen in your whole entire life. Our families have contests on who can find the largest, smallest, and most sand dollars. All dead of course. Also a great fishing place to go is the pillings. If you are docked in the marina it is extremely easy place to get to, and the only place my grandparents let me and my cousins take the boat alone. If you are going out of the cut and turn your boat to the right, it will be right there. The last place you must go is the blue hole. It is a bit further than the rest of the places and I do not exactly remember how to get there, but any local will know. It is about a 20 minute boat ride from the island and it is a must see. Hope you go back. Enjoy!
Rum Runners of lore were some of the best sailors on the seas. They had to outrun, outwit, and outsail the navy in order to make their spoils. We are proud to follow in the traditions of the past Rum Runners; to sail in the same waters, to find protected anchorages and friendly ports, as well as to enjoy some of the best rums the Caribbean has to offer- yar!
Let me introduce you to the crew of the Rum Runner; I’m Jen and do most of the blogging. But my life wouldn’t be complete without my husband Jay by my side. And as always we have our trusty companion Kona, the Salty Dog. We have b... full info
