Wow so now we finally know the tale of the 2 dislocated toes!! What a horrible 10-12 days you had there, poor you all that combined with the lost voice and stomach troubles and being all alone really sucks. No wonder you was really really glad to leave.. But despite all that I must admit I did laugh at the story several times as did your grandma She got on the phone and laughed for ages about the descriptive way you describe your troubles. I know we're bad people laughing about it but it was very funny to read!! That crazy german will either end up in some nasty peruvian jail or die from having his brains fried before too long.. Keep writing its always brilliant following your adventures good and bad ones.. LY xx
Awesome!! Thanks for the little snippet about the Island! I will be doing the opposite journey from Iquitos to Pucallpa so That info on the cheap and cool place in Yarinacocha is great news, Hope I can find the boat to it though lol ( I don't use guide books at all when traveling )
take care bud!
RE: Awesome!! Thank you very much for the comment, much appreciated! Just editing the entry for the trip itself, hopefully I'll post it soon. Best of luck with the trip, it's a good one!
Glad I'v finally managed to read this one I had overlooked it cause it was out of sinc. Thailia sounds and looks a like a beautiful girl inside and out, she must of of been very special person to attract your attention, I'm sorry that it was not reciprocated but it was'nt the time or place for you. There is someone out there every bit as special and just waiting for you to say Hello, and when it does happen she'll be a very lucky girl to have found you. xx
Even if a lot within this blog entry is not a side of you I know so well bud (!!) it was yet another top read and highly insightful! If you\'ve been reading this Thalia, Al\'s an awesome guy..but you already know that ;-)
Hey absolutley loved the tale of the two Dopey men, really good, you must have met so many many crazy people on your travels over the last couple of years I suspect you could write a hilarious book just about all of them. People travel for all sorts of reasons some for adventure & to see the world, some to escape it some for personal reason I bet you hear all kinds of tales on your travels.
RE: Mum Cheers mum, always some strange people, although the story from Iquitos about a German tops these two guys easily. Not a lovely story that one...
Finally written Machu Picchu but it needs some major major editting before posting. It´s currently even longer than the HP one...
Would love to see the ruins looks very interesting, but your tale of the turtle and your rubber chicken makes me laugh every time,,, i can just imagine your face half asleep leaning over the bed and seeing that scene, absolutley brilliant! x
Climbing Huayna Potosi A rivetting account of what must have been a herculean effort. It kept me spellbound Despite mot reaching the summit it was a sterling attemptand you should not reproach yourself at all.Very very well done AL. I am sure you are not broken and that you will climb higher yet.
Hey there, I wish i was there to watch you sand boarding down those dunes it would of been quite something and to see you climbing down the waterfalls in freezing cold water. you are having so much fun actually doing all these activities that most people only read about... the photos of laguna 69 are are lovely..and as for the donkey carrying the bike well it boggles the mind as to why? keep up the writing it a great read xx
Hurrah about time you did some more writing, I think i love the photos of this place more than any other . the clean clear blue water of the lake etc and the kids playing by the shore are just brilliant. I really does evoke a feeling of calm and solitude. I can see why you like it so much.
Aw poor you being so poorly on a trip like that but have been awful.. I\'d have been terrified as to where i was putting my butt in case something nasty was around waiting to take a bite. very brave of you to hold that tarantula also kinda irresponsible of the guide to allow it i gotta wonder if any body has ever been bitten and how on earth they deal with it after, oh so dangerous and yet fasinating place.
Hey leave the Capybaras alone I\'m fairly sure now that Muffin must be related somewhere along the line cause she rarely moves at the best of times and now autumn is in she\'s almost in hibernation mode!! Seeing all those animals etc in real life certainly beats the heck out of any Zoo or wildlife park here
Always a good read Alan, the waterfalls etc sounds like a really great place and the bus trip truley horrendous, I think they call call it ying and yang the good is balanced out by the bad, and you have certainly experienced it all.,, but as you say even the bad makes life interesting, you'll have so many stories to tell & so many memories.
RE: more to read...and enjoying! You´re welcome bud, good to know you´re still reading. I think this latest one is one of my better ones. Got the next one already written up as well - catch up game is on!
