...We call it the elephant because from a distance it looks like the head and back of an elephant. Hopefully I'll have a photo of that soon. Um...cold here is low 60s...maybe it reaches the 50s on the really bad days. I guess compared to Minnesota we're roasting. :)
Great view This would have been a fun climb for you, I , Aric and the kids.... IF we would have had time !!! How was the soccer game?? Still pumped up from my visit. Love You, Mom
it was one of those times were everything in life just felt right and good and it was God reminding me again to trust and live with his daily joy and peace rather than worry. how assuring is that!
It's a safe place. I mean, we're still in Central America...but Copan is a very touristy town, lots of foreigners here with little problems. There have been a few incidents over the years, but nothing more than you'd get practically anywhere in the world. Probably safer here than most places in the states. :)
i keep thinking about this post. i wish i could have been there with you! what an amazing and wonderful time with God that must have been... miss you, love you... e
Stunning and amazing is the way you describe that little town that I have visited in past vacations. I can even hear the chirping insects in a clear night in Copan, combined with the clear sky shinning with a million stars. I can even hear the murmur of that little stream running down the valley. But what is more amazing is the peace of mind that you have in your heart. I guess that the solitude and slow pace of that town has helped you to accomplished that state.
I can wait for the day I will move there.
I understand I read your Comment about learnig taking place one day when you were tutoring...I totally understand that magnificent feeling of Learning taking place with the students you teach. Hopefully that continues....So glad your mom could come and visit!! who is Aric?
i am so glad that you had a great time with family! did you have "thanksgiving" with them too? love to you and your honduran family... give sarai a kiss from mae!!
Surprise! When your called me a week before she left to join saying that she was going with Aric to see you God answered a prayer. I'm glad you were surprised to see her and I know she was happy to see you also. She was so excited once she made the decision to go. I can't wait to hear what she has to say about the trip. Love and Hugs!!!!
Bringing a friend? Oh, yes, seems like there was another person heading to Copán. I trust the three of you are having a splendid time together!!!
I pray for your Bible club, Abriela. Saludos de mi parte a tu familia de Copán!!
LIfe at Random Snow???? We did have flurries here today which was great for me, I was in FL the other times Mpls had snow/flurries. One never knows what will happen in the next minute, we just have to live with what is sent our way. Please give Aric a hug for me and enjoy your time with him and his friend (your mom mentioned he was bring a friend?). I'm sure you are excited to see them. Love and hugs from the Randall's!!!!!!!
Rilla hy, my name is Ed and I want to tell you that your work down there is very commendable. I admire you for your dedication with those children that need people like you to give them hope for a better future.
I am planning to move to Copan Ruins by the next year and I have a son--8-year-old son that I will enroll in Mayatan. I will request from you some information. My son doesn't speak any Spanish at all, although I am Hispanic but in home we never spoke any Spanish. Do you think that he will be able to handle third grade without knowing any Spanish? I would appreciate if you give some ideas and more information about Mayatan school.
Thank you
Ed from Miami, Fla
Ich bin falsche I know exactly what you mean about the language changing. Today I couldn't properly say 'early' (fruh), a word I've said a million times before....it's SO frustrating sometimes!! :)
God Works Through You When you refer your story about the kids in La Pintada, your words are so inspirational. I admire your devotion to those kids in need. It takes a real christian to go down there to a country where the need is right in your face wherever you turn your head, and as you say, not only see the burden they carry , but carry it out with action. And one last comment: Your role is not small. You will receive blessings for all the help you are bringing to this people. I am sure that they see hope when they see you, because through you, God is working.
Thank you April, Thank you, thank you - for all you share with us during your stay in Hondouras. You give us a vivid new insite into another culture and their ways. I am sorry about the loss of your friend, she was way too young and had so much life ahead of her. Thoughts and prayers are with you and all. THANK YOU for sharing and being you. Love A. Betsy
TQM So good to read your updates and stay in touch with what's going on in Copan. Please give my love to Aura and Nahun's family and anyone else you see that I might possibly know.
I hope to return in February.
Hello Hi April, thanks for all your updates, they are so interesting to read. You make life here in the states look rather boring and colorless, especially after your fabulous photos. I read all the blogs up till now, but if you have time, email me sometime, ok? (Time...what's that?) :-D See ya in less than a year!!
hey, why didn't you come with us that one time we went up there? man, that ride up there was hell to me. made you want to come back to the cobblestone road of CR after driving that trail up to aguascalientes! ;)
Since starting to travel in 1998 I haven't been able to stop! Which just goes to show what can happen to a shy, little farm-girl that never even wanted to leave home!
I began this blog in 2007 during my year and half of teaching and missions work in Honduras. Before that I'd been to Germany, Brazil, Ecuador and Guatemala. I'm eager to see where all I will end up and the new adventures and opportunities God gives me to experience!
I love seeing new places, experiencing new cultures, learning new languages, but most of all I love meeting new people! It's the friends that I make that t... full info
