Ha, ha! Soda water is nasty. I guess it's an aquired taste that I did not aquire. I remember being unpleasantly surprised to get that instead of regular water while in Ecuador. :) I made sure not to make the same mistake again!

Lots of love and hugs to you and the family!!! April
Thanks Promise!
I'm still awed by the fact that God allowed me that time in Honduras and to have those experiences! It's sort of a "wow, I never would have imagined myself in this place and doing all of this!" It wasn't easy, but I wouldn't trade it for anything!
Love, April

Hola April Hola April, muchacha gracias por actualizar tu blog, I did really miss your last entry I usually open the entries in the Central America tab, y tu blog estaba bajo la viñeta de Norte America. So I miss your open house at the church. However I hope this is not the last time you type something for your readers. Te deseo la mejor suerte de el mundo en todas tus actividades. Me puedes escribir en caso que quieras conversar en Español. Adios
wish I could've come! I wish I'd had more notice about your program so I could have flown over. jaja!
seriously, i'm thankful for your safe arrival in the states and continue to thank God for the opportunity you had to live with Pastor Nahún and Aura and their kids. What a joy it was to meet you in Copán! i hope we see you again this side of Paradise. C :
saludos y abrazos de mi parte It must have been so hard leaving Pastor Nahún and Aura's home. I cried when I read your entry. I miss them all--all of my friends in Copán. Enjoy your last few days with them.
Love,
Pamela
what a foursome!!! It looks like you had an incredible time. Just more icing on the cake of living in Honduras, right? Well, maybe another layer plus icing.
I hope we see you again some day this side of heaven. Love you!
WHAT A SURPRISE TO HAVE HANNAH GET OFF THE BUS!!! I was with the kids up by the clinic when the bus arrived. "Es hannah!" One of them shouted. "Vamos a jugar con hanna!" y les dije, "no...Hannah no iba a venir en este viaje." ooops...I was wrong. SOOOO good to have her here!!!
ok...just to clarify...I didn't do any rock throwing...it was THEM...all THEM!!! Plus it was an ity-bity guy, and maybe hurt or sick or who knows. Actually they think he may have been the "black bat" of the family since he was hanging outside the cave in the middle of the day. (They did finally leave him in peace...with no physical harm done. Good thing they're bad aims). Si, disfruto mucho mis ultimas semanas aca. increible que ya me voy. Estoy emocionada para regresar a Michigan...pero muy triste dejar todo de Honduras. Pero, mi vida esta en las mano de Dios ... El es fiel y sabe todo. :)
praises I'm so glad to hear our friends are all right.
Hopefully the health problems with the Tolupanes will be over soon.
Enjoy your time with Hannah. How I wish I were there, too!
Love and prayers,
Solana
Bats Please dont throw rocks to the bats. They are also God's creation. Muchacha no por favor. Enjoy your last 3 weeks in Honduras Michigan weather will be so on its peak of the heat when you get back. Take care and be safe. Adios
hi solana!! Priase God, yes the raining stopped! Everyone is OK...and the churches. I heard the Copan river is still very full and there may still be some danger with that... but as far as I know all is fine. Thank you for your prayers!
wonderful Our God is so amazing. I'm rejoicing with you that "your kids" finally came. I can't imagine why it took them so long. I have fond memories of them gathered around you, singing and listening to the Bible stories on the grass outside the clinic.
Have you received any more word about the flooding in Copán? I've been praying for our friends there.
Love you! Solana
Haven't ever tried to make flan...although I love it. Villamil has two great ones I love: coffee and coconut. Delicious. I've made a few things here...baladeas especially. That'll become a new staple for me. :)
There are a lot of commonalities between the central american countries I've been in. One definitely knows he's in CA. But each one is also unique. It feels different when I cross the border to Guatemala or El Salvador. The people are different...and a bit of the culture too...and they may use different words for things. Like the variation between the east and west coast, or the south, or the midwest in the states.
I really have loved getting to experience so much here and being a part of so many different things. Even though Copán is a huge tourist town, and lots of expats live here, I really treasure the Honduran friends that I have and the relationships I've made. That is the best thing I've gained from my time here!
Honduran culture Hola April. By how you describe all activities you take part in I'd say it is really amazing the amount of Honduran culture you have assimilated. I should probably say Central American culture since for what I understand all these countries are pretty similar, Well you tell us. It would be cool though if you learn how to cook some of those dishes you describe in your blog. Have you tried to make a Flan yet? I find those extremely delicious. Please take care and write more. It is always fun to read your blog. Adios.
Since starting to travel in 1998 I haven't been able to stop! Which just goes to show what can happen to a shy, little farm-girl that never even wanted to leave home!
I began this blog in 2007 during my year and half of teaching and missions work in Honduras. Before that I'd been to Germany, Brazil, Ecuador and Guatemala. I'm eager to see where all I will end up and the new adventures and opportunities God gives me to experience!
I love seeing new places, experiencing new cultures, learning new languages, but most of all I love meeting new people! It's the friends that I make that t... full info
