Hola April,
Thanks for posting this. It's always great to read your entries and see the pix you post from Honduras. I pray that God is using you in a mighty way at the summer camp. Josh Price is working as a counselor this summer too. This Saturday night is our mega-reunion for Honduras with the Bullocks. How we wish you could come!!!!!!!!!! Kristen leaves Tuesday so she won't get to come either.
But we had her and her brothers over Friday for a great time.
<3 and prayers,
Solana
changes Yes, it is challenging to remember what we've experienced and continue to allow it to change our hearts and lives.
Whenever she returned from trips to Honduras, Hannah would always say, "Mommy, I don't want to go back to living like I used to." May God help us to make lasting changes!
so this proves I read some, eh? April, I like it better when you write about people I know. but ...well... adios. (sorry que soy so autocentricada///but maybe (quisas...tal vez...maybe!) you'll feel better about yourself in comparison.)
Gracias por el comentario! No sé si voy a escribir mucho más en las proximas semanas. Mañana regreso a Michigan! Sabes que espero volver a Honduras en Febrero? Solo para visitar ... talves por 3 semanas. Ojala. Me hacen mucha falta mis "aleros" de Honduras. =)
Germany Hola Abril.
thanks nicole! it was actually hard deciding what photos to put on b/c we took so many and they're all fabulous! seriously, it seems like any photo taken of dresden is just gorgeous!
OK - you and me have a travel date. you pick when and where and I'll be there! Whether it's tomorrow or in 20 years just let me know (OK, not actually tomorrow b/c i'll still be in Germany ... but a week from tomorrow would be alright) ;-)
ja ja ja! no girl - yous the one who be funny! ja ja ja. ok...so i was totally trying to be pc without trying to be pc ... and that's how it turned out! ;-) way to call me out on it tho.
okay, so i'm the one that called them (well, specifically pigeons) "rodents of the sky" but Beth was really adamant about me not making friends with them. i think b/c she's a vet she knows what horrible little germs can be passed from them to innocent little creatures like me. i'm sure she was just looking out for my well-being ... but having the bird on my hand was seriously the coolest thing!
mi abril is back!! :)
had asian heritage?!! hahahahha.....you's funny. just say it abril, she had chinky eyes. hahahha....jk jk! i'm surprised your friend called the birds disgusting or whatever, isn't she a vet?! :P
wow. i have tears in my eyes, mostly because i am so often impacted that way by things like what you saw here and no one understands. i told a friend last week that there are things in the world... sad broken disgusting things that i have to leave to God, because otherwise my heart would break all the time. i think that applies here! we have the obligation to do all we can to be "light in the darkness... a city on a hill"... and we have to let God do the rest. so convicting isn't it? i really wish i could have shared this first hand with you... huge hugs and lots of love!!
Ha ha ha!!! It wasn't actually to bathe in. There was a shower we were supposed to use. I think they just wanted to make sure no one used the tub ... or wanted to do something interesting with it. =)
I know, Turkish food is fabulous!!!
It's the little things that make a big difference Thanks for sharing your thoughts April. Good stuff. Your last sentence made me think of a little saying we have in our house by Mother Teresa that goes, "We can do no great things; only small things with great love."
Since starting to travel in 1998 I haven't been able to stop! Which just goes to show what can happen to a shy, little farm-girl that never even wanted to leave home!
I began this blog in 2007 during my year and half of teaching and missions work in Honduras. Before that I'd been to Germany, Brazil, Ecuador and Guatemala. I'm eager to see where all I will end up and the new adventures and opportunities God gives me to experience!
I love seeing new places, experiencing new cultures, learning new languages, but most of all I love meeting new people! It's the friends that I make that t... full info
