APRIL marked the 1 year Anniversary for the Train the Teacher's Workshop for the Ladies in Moshi! This past Saturday we had our monthly Train the Teachers workshop at Moshi, the ladies gather together to share in teaching techniques and ideas to help build up the children's Bible classes and the ladies abilities to teach them. While we were few in number this month, it was still a wonderful Ladies Class. We taught the first couple of months as we began this class a year ago this month, and then moved into letting the Tanzanian women take turns coming up with their own creative ideas and preparing lessons to share with the other women. It has been a huge success! The children's classes at Moshi are amazing! I guess I should say that the teachers are ... read more

The reason you haven’t heard from us in a week or so now is, that last week we were finally able to get away for a little rest and relaxation with the family. We had been planning on this trip for some time now. We were joined by Kelly & Callie, and 3 of the Hochdorfs; Anita & the kids Race and Maddie. I thought you would enjoy seeing a different side of Africa, the tropical coastline... Peponi, the place we like to camp at, means Paradise in Swahili, and it truly is! Every time we stand there at the camp site with the waves rolling in at our feet the song, "Have You Seen Jesus My Lord" comes to mind. Where it says, "Have you ever stood at the ocean with the white foam at ... read more

Well, After a long busy month, we decided to slow things up a bit and focus on our kids and the family. Getting the house back in order, having a “down” week so to speak, we had planned on taking the kids away to go camping, again which we seem to do about once every 3 or 4 months or so, but it’s the kids favorite get away! Camping was the plan… Flat tires seemed to be the set back… So, We’ve had to delay getting away until the first of the month, to be able to cover the unexpected side of life here in Africa! And this is something, and that you get used to, the unexpected. So we've been settled in quite a bit by the rains and that is giving the kids ... read more

“Hereby we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and do his commandments.” 1 John 5:2 Have you ever sat back and noticed as the words of the Bible started to become real, right before your eyes, and you could see God at work in what you were doing and know that it was good? In everything that has been happening these last couple weeks, it has just further proved that our God is in Control, and no matter what troubles or trials the devil throws our way, when we have our heads in the word, our hearts in His love and our hands busy with his work, that the devil just can’t get a grip on you. For two weeks now, we’ve had guests here working in various areas and ... read more

These are some pictures from the day spent working specifically with the Tanzanian children while the Sayre & Elk City Group was here from Oklahoma. We taught Bible Classes at Hannah's Nursery school in Boma Ngombe, and then went over to the Joy Foundation Orphanage also in Boma, to repeat the stories there for the orphans living there under the care of Mama Lima. Then we traveled down the road towards Arusha to the Cradle of Love Orphanage for children under the age of two, mostly newborns, who just needed to be visited and held close. ... read more

I started thinking back over the events of last week and how things have progressed on into this week so quickly.. with all that has been happening and going on around us, in such a short amount of time where do I even start? And how is it even possible for time to go by so quickly? I guess where I left off and that was with the last blog covering the 1st worship service in Marangu Mwika, while the Oklahoma group was still here. There were over 15,000 tracks distributed in this area, around 300 studies held, and 35 in attendance for their first worship service. 17 locals, 1 interpreter, and 17 Americans. 4 new souls added to the kingdom, and so many exciting stories to share of each individual we came across that I ... read more

What a month we have had in Tanzania. Words will not be able to do justice to the true depths and zeniths that we have experienced over the last three plus weeks. Jerry Clower, once had a song that said something to the effect of "Shoot up here amoungst us, as one of us has got to have some relief", speaking of a man in a tree with a wild cat. At times this probably best sums up our feelings. But first things first. We are thankful for God's continual answering of our prayers as Stephanie Stafford has had her surgery and is now at home resting for a few weeks while she recovers. The cyst that was removed was larger than thought at first, so we are thankful that the doctors were able to safely ... read more
