Third day in London (second day of sightseeing) and guess what? It's raining! We didn't let that stop us. Hopped on the bus and did our second day of touring around London. We saw Sophie's sweatshirt hanging in a shop window, much to her chagrin. We rode the London Eye (for some reason, Robb keeps calling it "the arm" - he's so contradictory). Robb - "I am not!" We saw a cool statue of a horse kissing the ground and did some shopping at Harrods. Harrods was wonderful but now we understand why that episode of Mr. Bean has him buying ONE Christmas ornament. That place is bloody expensive. We saw a watch for GBP371,000. Really?!! Wouldn't you worry someone would chop off your wrist? A quick change at the hotel into warmer clothes and we ... read more

Missed a day - travelling from Paris to London. We did manage to go to Musee d'Orsay inthe morning on Wed. Very cool to seeing origina Monets, Manet, Van Goghs and other greats. Jon and Sophie were upset because they did not see a mime while in Paris. Correction - we did se a "mi". He was getting dressed and putting on his mime makeup on a Paris bridge so not a full mime yet. Chunnel ride was quicker it seemed, maybe because we were all excited to be going to London ... and because we had train seats that were facing each other and spent the ride playing pictionary. Got into London around 3:30p and checked in. Robb and I have a quaint (aka small room). Robb stubbed his toe on the bed walking in. ... read more

It's been a long day - spent the day riding the bus looking at the other three main parts of Paris: Montmarte, Bastille-Bercy and Montparnesse. We saw lots of interesting buildings, signs, restaurants ... the city is always buzzing with activity. We wanted to visit the Musee D'Orcy where all the Impressionist paintings are housed however, one look at the monster crowd brought back visions of our day at the Louvre and we opted out. Hoping to get there tomorrow morning before we leave for the train station. We did visit Rodin's Museum where we saw the original Thinker and various other Rodin sculptures, including a wall of empty egg shells. It's too sophisticated for us ... we just kept wondering where the bacon went to. Jonathan was the one who really wanted to go to ... read more

Hop On, Hop Off (HoHo) - spent today riding the open double decker bus doing the loop of Central Paris (Eiffel Tower, Rodin Museum, etc.) and also Bercy-Bastille (Notre Dame). Note: Jon got super excited because he saw the right scapula (i.e. right back bone) of the original Thinker by Rodin. Note2: Robb commented that Rodin's Thinker had a realistic crack in his butt. The tour bus gives headsets to listen to prerecorded tapings of the various attractions, interspersed with local french music. We discovered that Robb has some sort of metal anamoly - every headset that he puts on, breaks. In fact, Ann shared her headset with Robb and the single earphone that went into Robb's ear, stopped working! Good thing the headsets come free with the bus tickets. After two nights of late excursions, ... read more

What an adventure so far! It started with our taxi driver from home to Pearson nearly killing us because he missed the airport ramp on the highway and almost sideswiped a truck!! Fortunately, Robb said the universal word for "watch where you're going" .... "DUDE!!!?!!" and taxi driver swerved in time to avoid 5 deaths (6 if you count the driver). At Pearson, we enjoyed the Maple Leaf Lounge, but Ann ALMOST got arrested because she ran into a friend, Ann K, in the lounge, and decided to help Ann K carry her luggage over to where we were already sitting. Turns out the luggage did not belong to Ann K! We should have known what lay ahead when Jonathan broke the light above his seat on the plane. We tried to discreetly ignore that this ... read more
