Life is a beach' - at least it is supposed to be.

The voice of the ocean surf, smell of salty water and feeling the sand on my feet, it just makes me happy like nothing else in life.

On my second morning in Manila I contacted my Mum via text message that I am now leaving Manila for Boracay. The reaction 'Oh, did you still not arrive??'. Well, this is something that separates me from the rest of my family. For me the holiday starts when I leave my hometown with my travel bag. The very same reaction came from another friend, Thilo, with whom I did previously a one week hike through the Corsican mountains in Europe. All three of us were now checking the options and we took Annapurna trek and Everest Base Camp trek into the final consideration. But especially Michael and my desire to see the highest of all mountains was very strong. But as we read online reviews of the EBC trek, it sounded not very appealing. 'Crowded with people', 'inhuman treatment of porters', 'environmental problems' were only some of the statements... Therefore we decided ... read more
