Part 2 of the Amazon Basin.... After feeling so deliciously clean for 1 night it was off to the Jungle for a two day tour of more mankiness! We walked through the markets (my head was down as we passed plucked chickens and raw meats) and we jumped on a wooden long boat to travel the lovely Beni River that straddles the town of Rurrenabaque. Our guide, Nelson, was wonderful and we had been recommended this tour because it was one where the profits help out the local community village (where we were going to stay the night). The difference between a pampas tour and a jungle tour is that a pampas tour is on the river (a different river 4 hrs away) and it involves a lot of wildlife spotting. The jungle tours are also ... read more
Las Chickas in the Jungle

Hola! We have just arrived back from almost a week in the pampas and jungle of Northern Bolivia. We flew to the tiny town of Rurrenabaque last week in a tiny 20 seater plane and enroute met 4 cool English chicks. One of them was in major struggle town due to the tinyness of the plane which was understandable as we flew low and close to some pretty big mountains and had to land in a green grass field. We booked a Pampas Tour on the Yakuma River with our new friends to begin the following day. Stace and I had our hearts set on cruising on the Amazon River but of course hadn´t researched anything so were suprised to hear the Amazon River was hundreds of miles away! But we were technically in the Amazon ... read more

Buenos Noches mi amigos, I can´t believe it´s over 2 weeks since my last blog...pretty slack, or in truth, pretty busy! It has been a full on 2 weeks, we have been on the go most of the time and have travelled to the south and then to the north of Bolivia in that short time. It has been amazing and I´ll write it in two separate entries since the experiences were so different... My second week in Sucre was great. The Spanish lessons were moi dificil (very difficult!). I struggled so much more than the first week with all the verb variations and congregations. Stace found her first week a little tough too but we studied together and also fitted in some of the sights of Sucre. I took her to La Mirador (the lookout) ... read more

Moi Lindo Vista

Hola mi amigos, Hope everyone is well. So I have finished my first week of Spanish classes and am very happy. Mi gusta Sucre, mi familia and mi clase de Espanol (I love Sucre, my host family and my Spanish classes). Sucre is a beautiful city, it is the highest capital city in the world and it has a beautiful charm and look about it. The buildings are mostly white and grand and the view from my favourite (ultra steep) hill is moi bonito (very beautiful). My Spanish is coming along very nicely. I have learnt so much in a week and find I can converse with the merchants in the mercado (market) and I sometimes sit in the plaza and talk with the beautiful (and smelly) homeless children. I certainly can´t have a proper conversation ... read more

Buenas Tardes me Amigos, I have made it to Sucre, Bolivia. It´s kinda been a long few days but I´ll tell you about that in a sec. Stace and I had an absolute ball on the plane. For me it was a number of firsts... 1. I had never flown oveseas with Qantas 2. I had never flown overseas with a friend or anyone i knew sitting nect to me (actually in all the hundreds of flights I have done I have only ever flown on two 1 hour flights with someone I know) 3. I had never had my own television screen So you can imagine...I was pretty excited. We checked out our goodies bags, chose our lunch from the menu (with a glass of champagne to celebrate of course), played some video games to ... read more
