Hello everyone... missed me??? (heh heh) NOT! Our first full week back had its challenges to say the least. However, "one" can't complain can "one' when "one" gets almost 3 weeks away in paradise. I had intended to send a last blog which I still have yet to send but I have been sick with a bad cold. Normally I scare those "things" off but this one gave me a really good shake this time. In the meantime, a little update. During our stay at Luna Encantada, Tonya (Playa Beach Condos) asked if we could take photos of the condo we were staying in, as the pictures she has of the condo doesn't do it justice. So Al took out his super-duper camera and spent a lot of time staging these great shots of the condo ... read more

"Home is where your heart is, but happiness is where your family and friends are". Truer words were never spoken. Glad to be home & hear the voices of friends and family after being away. Back to the familiar comforts of home. Do you remember that old saying, "Be careful what you wish for, it might just come true".. Well Rory & Ava kept wishing to get their hair braided & it's not cheap & it's tedious & takes a long time to get done. We finally relented, and in the end, they both looked so cute but they also ended up with a sunburn on their scalp. Ouch. While we really enjoyed our extra days in Playa "Be careful for what you wish for" was on my mind too. It was FABULOUS, but our last ... read more

We're sitting by the ocean having our last breakfast in Playa. It is the most marvelous day, ocean is sparkling, waves are crashing and it's very humid and warm. Last check it was 25 with a humidex of 34. Trust me, we are sliding off our chairs this morning! We have already packed our bags, and reserved our pool-side chair. The girls got a lot of sun yesterday despite the tons of sunblock we put on them. We'll have to watch them closer today. We will do a bit of final shopping and are meeting Louis one of our favorite beach servers for a drink by noon. It's his day off and he's going fishing first. (Marth he's going fishing with the lads that took you out; I'm trying to network for you for next time) ... read more

"Me mind on fire, me soul on fire, feeling hot hot hot" Who doesn't love that song? It's the the appropriate day here in Playa to be singing that song. Mother nature is in a great mood. Another sunny hot day with clear skies and the ocean is so calm that even the locals can't believe how serene it is. We woke startled early this morning by Ava who said "mom we've got to get our towels down to the pool so we get the best loungers". Lounge chair wars; get your towel out on a day bed or you are sweet out of luck chuck. We have a nice day bed with a mattress and cover and the pool server brought us an umbrella. Umbrellas are like gold around here. I really do enjoy kids ... read more

I was rushed this morning to get out a blog with Al preparing to take the girls to the ocean and then he was off for his second dive. He's really hoping to swim with sharks today. My big adventure was going to Walmart for snacks & whatever fun goodies I could find. There are Nestle and Hershey treats here you just can't get at home, the same with gum. I will be stocking up! Right now the girls and I are lounging at this huge pool next door to our condo. It's a huge complex with loungers, day beds and very elegant with white shirt service to our lounger. We just enjoyed some of the best chicken tenders and fries we've ever had. White tender chicken in a home-made breading; light, fluffy yet crispy! I ... read more

"Times flies when you're having fun, but frogs know times are fun when you're having flies!" It's hard to believe how fast 2 weeks fly by when you're having fun. Yet though I say that, we enjoyed each and every one of those days with a peaceful laid-back feeling. (finally a serious blog right; none of my antics here, you'll have to read my other blogs for that) Our accommodations were great being oceanfront with a pool. And the staff helped to make it one of our best holidays ever. We enjoyed swimming in the ocean, shell collecting, reading by the pool, eating delicious food, sipping pina colodas & margs, and sunrises and sunsets. Nights were fun on bustling 5th avenue or on the beach listening to music. Vacationing with a big group can be tricky; ... read more

Sunday (Domingo) was our 13th day here, and it was a banner day. Hot, sunny but with a light breeze - the ultimate tropical day. We all had an extra bounce in our step and it just might have been our best day here weather wise. After taking a walk with the kids to an off-the-beaten-track bakery (excellent raspberry jam stuffed croissants) we stopped to have a smoothie. They made nanna an "engery" smoothie, with yogurt, bananas, mango and granola. After that smoothie, nanna was lifting small cars over her head on the way home!! Once back at the condo, our loungers & umbrellas were set up and ready to go! It was hot so I high-tailed it off to Yan's next door for those 2 for 1 drinks we've been enjoying. While I was waiting ... read more

The fellow who says he'll meet you halfway usually thinks he's standing on the dividing line. Other than the rude awakening yesterday morning by that loud family in another condo, we had a nice day. I'm starting to think maybe this family is here because all their neighbors got together and pooled their money to get rid of them! (Our neighbors back at home would never do that...right? Deb, Jacques...anyone??? With Al off diving, off we gals went shopping. We went way off 5th and got some great bargains. I don't like to "bargain" too much with the locals; they need every last Peso. However, we knew their starting point was much higher than what the item was worth. I bought a really nice pair of sunglasses. They are "Oakley's" (yeah right) but regardless, they are ... read more

Hi folks, the server on travel blog seemed to be down for over a day, and I'm trying to sort out why you aren't getting notifications when I post a new blog. NOTE: If you are reading this, there is one you are missing called Lobster & Steak On the Town. It is out of order due to the server being down! So where was I? I've got some catching up to do! Friday we moved to our new condo. It's a lovely condo as well, we just have to hike it up 3 levels. We settled in nicely and got on with our holiday. The family is really enjoying the roof top with its views and loungers. We did a little touring yesterday, but stayed fairly quiet, eating, drinking, eating, drinking...well you get the message! ... read more

"I paint self-portraits because I am so often alone, because I am the person I know best". Frida Kahlo (Amazing Mexican painter.) Wowzie, by about 9 am yesterday morning it was getting pretty hot. How HOT was it you ask? HAHAHA, alright never mind how hot it was. I won't try and be a comedian again. Al went to sign up for diving lessons. They will start him off in a pool and they will take him out for his first dive on the barrier reef. Yes, the Riviera Maya has the 2nd largest barrier reef in the world; attracting divers and snorkelers from all over the world. Including the soon-to-be-great diver "AL"...
