One flew over Sal's cuckoo's nest
Two questions Sal. You in my culture would be termed "quite a handful. Are you sure Nurse Ratched is going to let you out next time? You have been re-committed have you not?

Yes Dave I have been called that before. A handful, or in my recent birthday card from a friend "A force of nature". Hmm hope it's a compliment now that I think about it! Frankly I should be committed if I dare fly thru Newark again. Fool me once shame on you. Fool me twice shame on me! Always great to hear your take on things!

Hey Zully it is one of our favorite restaurants - steak house that has a prop rifle so Al was chasing off this handsome server of ours...Did I say handsome? Sorry Al. It was a wonderful getaway...

It isn't all fun and games...
That's a travel story that just kept getting better and better ;) Hope you eventually got your bag back, but I know that zombie-like feeling of just wanting to get home so badly that everything else pales into insignificance. I use the nickname Nurse Ratched a lot...it seems to suit so many people in customer service, who really really shouldn't be! Hope your blood pressure has calmed down by now :)

Took a few days for the old blood pressure to come down. The bag made it the next day with the tequila in it. When all else fails...apply tequila! :) Thanks for the comment!!!

You had me laughing so much
I don't know how I haven't read your blogs before, but I will. Your wry humor and incredible story-telling are amazing. This was a truly horrific travel event, and wow was it all too real. Great blog.

You are far too kind. I appreciate it given the fabulous blogs generated every day by such talented writers! I guess everyone can relate to airline travel & its frustrations! Thank you!

Life lessons
As I read your blog, I realised how lovely (and necessary) it is to treat ourselves to a getaway or some downtime after a rough patch. I hope this catches on as 'a thing'. Thanks for making me drool with your food and drink descriptions...and I totally agree with you on the term 'foodie' - I really dislike it. I just refer to me and my kind as 'piggies' :)

Life lessons
I love to read about food too - I like to mention it so people know what choices are here and how cheaply you can eat. Glad you agree on the 'foodie' thing. Love the 'piggies' kind! Thanks for checking in!

Dancing in the rain
"Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass, it's about learning to dance in the rain." So glad you got those precious three days as a family, and good on you for grabbing life and carrying on with your adventures xx

Beautiful words
This post about your Dad made me sad, but happy too. Hope the new beginning goes smoothly for your Mum - I know so many changes so quickly can be overwhelming, but I find that when things need to happen, it's easier that they happen rapidly... as opposed to having too much time to ponder the changes. Thank you for sharing this with us, and I'm glad you got to resume your holiday with your family :)

Awesome tribute to your dad...Speechless...
Thanks for sharing these gorgeous photos of your family Sal. You are so blessed to have had 86 years of wisdom from your dad..I know it is not consolation as you probably would want even more....I respect and envy that is that is okay. .I have the special card with photo of him that was given at the Funeral Home, now in our Family room. Thank you for that...and for these touching words. You Do touch so many people's lives with your blogs. xoxo Love to all with you and you.

Life Changes in a moment.
So well said Dave. These are the biggest moments in our life - so glad my journey with him ended well. *My Dad died Tuesday July 25th. We are having an Irish Wake to celebrate him today. Thanks for the lovely sentiment.
