Hi Pete! Great to know you are somewhere-Turkey I believe or Greece ? I shall miss your blog- it was great and you certainly made the most of it and lived to tell the tale. Much. love and hopefully not too many more adventures in the next week from oma
re: univ swimming comp Well done u x But.... never mind the tight swimming trunks, its the hat that got me !!!!! Looking forward to seeing you at Hayling Island in both :-)
Happy Birthday to Erlend if you happen to get this on the right day! (I just know that Mum and Dad are visiting Erlend today, not sure which day exactly his birthday is).
Thank you for the comment, the soup thing was just a hilarious translation in a menu, yes. There are so many funny mistranslations like that all over the place, because there's such a lack of people who can write good English. Sometimes they even go to the effort of making giant names of buildings out of metal and putting them up on the roof before checking whether it makes sense. It keeps you smiling when you're walking around, so I hope they don't learn too fast. But it also makes me wonder just how bizarre my Chinese could be sounding without me realising.
I hope the job works out fine, and keep holding your breath for that card, which should actually be in ship or something by now!
Pete
Soup Hi Peter
I loved the soup photo - was it just a bad translation or what? Highly amusing! Glad to hear from Dad that you're enjoying teaching at the kids' winter camp - or maybe you're back in Hainan by now.
You may or may not have heard Erlend and Kate had a boy, Finley Niall - quite an easy birth (to make up for Sam's). I'm going down on Thursday to look after Sam while E and K take Finley to have a hip scan - it looks as though he's O.K. though.
Changing times at the magazine I write for: the editor' job is going, so goodness knows what that means for the future of the mag. Just keeping my fingers crossed!
With love

hi a terrible experience...n we complain of our systems...this is worse than indian private hospitals where if the treatment is costly, the care is super...wishing u a speedy recovery.
Wow! I'm glad we've seen this after the event and you're ok. Amazing how respectable some parts seem like reception and others like the toilets are so bad. Maybe it's the more public areas.
This outdoes the compulsory military service in Norway! Nice blog, Peter. It's taken me to now to get round to reading it, but it was worth the effort.
What a year you are going to have. I'm not sure I could have handled the chaos!
BTW Pretty neat that "pete tupper china blog" into Google puts you at the top of the list.
wow from a watersport fan Really fun to read blog. How different nationalities act at the seaside is fascinating. When I was in Malaysia the muslim women went in the water fully clothed and also late in the day so just the westerners got burnt.. (this message is from a distant relative Charlie (was Charlie Dame).
who's this? and yes I did but mine just consisted of him yanking my limbs away from their sockets and putting all his weight onto my spine and clicking my neck, rather than sucking my skin into plastic tubs.
holy cow! they must be translated by some kind of crap translation software, totally make no sense.
especially,"various types approve sa", the guy knew it's wrong, but maybe he just wanted to make fun, since English speaking people will love them.
Great Blog! Heya Pete, Hope your doing okay :D Great blog - sounds like your having loads of fun and adventures. The pictures of the dog market made me real sad tho :( Don't eat the doggies lol!!! Humph Rather doggy! Making sure Molly doesn't look.
The campus looks real posh - what contrasts.
Scary stuff on the streets, looks like a scooter/bicycle display team.
