Single RN, traveling the world one vacation at a time, searching for my Shangri-La. I have found that my passion is exploring a countries culture, food, history and way of life. As I travel I am always looking for that one special place to call home once I retire!

I have fallen in love with Asia, from the moment I first step foot in Thailand in 2008. The sights, sounds, smells, its like a sensory overload no matter where you go. Having already been to Thailand a couple of times, Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam, its my goal to travel the back roads all over the rest of Asia.

Hey All, I apologize now for sending out 2 blogs at once. Seems when I got to looking at it, I wrote one on the 8th, got it all ready and seemed to fail to hit the publish button. So, you are getting one from 2 days ago, so if it does not make sense, now you know. I took the time to slow down today, found a nice air conditioned little place, ordered some Pad Thai and sat by the window, slowly eating and drinking my soft drink. I love to sit still, and watch life go by. As much as I have found some top notch people watching spots, LAX (Los Angeles Int. Airport), Rome, New York, Bangkok is the king, the greatest spot I have found on earth to people watch. Just give ... read more

Hey All, I wish I could blame this late entry on the internet, but its all on me. I walked so much yesterday that my feet were killing me and I was so exhausted. The humidity here just drains you so quick. Its like nothing I have experienced anywhere else. I am out half a day and by the time a slide back into the hotel, I look like I just walked through a car wash. You literally have to shower and change clothes and head back out for the afternoon gauntlet. I did not bring that many clothes, so when you are going through 2 sets a day, that’s a lot of laundry to do. I have been keeping an eye on the weather since arriving here and I passed on my way out this ... read more

Hey All, Bangkok, there no city like it anywhere I have been. 10 million people rushing about in such a small area, you really have to see it to believe it. I seem to have a love hate relationship with this place, its like a bad blind date, that after you get a chance to sleep on it, you think, well, maybe she was not that bad after all. She seems to lure me back again and again. When I went to bed last night I turned on the TV for the first time in over 2 weeks to be told, oh by the way, you better watch out, the biggest storm ever recorded on earth is headed your direction. Its pounding the Philippines as I sit here and has Vietnam in its sights next. After ... read more

Hey All, First let me get a couple of things cleared up: First) I made a really bad booboo when I wished my good friend Lisa a Happy 50th Birthday. She had posted she was starting her 50th year and I took this to mean she was turning 50, even though I did not think she was. Well, she just turned 49 and since I know who sensitive women are to making them older than they really are, I decided to set the record straight. Of all my friends I think she is the one who could care less, but I want to cover my bases. Second) Someone reminded me I never posted the pic of the person I ran across at a restaurant the first night in Koh Lanta. No, it was not Miley Cyrus, ... read more

Hey All, I know better! Stupid, stupid, stupid. I am religious about keeping my sunscreen on, but for some reason I go jump into the pool today without it. And you guessed it, SUNBURN. Thank goodness I realized early enough that it did not get serious, but its very tender to say the least. Its mainly my nose and my shoulders and upper back. There is a pharmacy right at the end of our driveway so I will run up there in the morning and get some lotion. Decided once again to blow off the moto ride. I was having such a good time just swimming, reading, took a nap in my hammock, before I knew it I looked at my watch and it was 3pm. Our BBQ on the beach has kinda taken off today ... read more

Hey All, Let me start out by saying, in the world of Travel Bloggers, I am the Jerry Seinfeld of blogging, my blog is about nothing. If you are a Seinfeld fan at all (Iris, Lisa, Angela) you will know what I mean. What did I do today, I got up, had breakfast, sat by the pool, in other words nothing, but I blog about it. I blog for my family and friends back home who find my musings interesting for the most part, after all what serious traveler cares about how I got chased out of a Bangkok Massage House by a little Thai lady with a mean broom, or my ride down a mountain in Peru yelling Bano, Bano to the poor frantic driver trying to find me a toilet before I crapped myself, ... read more

Hey All, I have found that finding a restaurant around here is extremely difficult. You walk out to the beach, head down the beach and there is many restaurants and bars set up right on the water. You use the beach as a road, and at night they all have cool lights and candles set up to attract you in, and the tables are set up in the sand. Its very cool. You don’t ever have to walk up to the road. After supper last night I walked back and sat in some chairs on the sand between my bungalow and the pool and there were 2 girls from Holland staying in the bungalow down from me. They told me about this day trip they were taking to visit 4 islands the next day. It sounded ... read more

Hey All, As I am writing this my feet are ankle deep in sand and I am watching the tide roll in and the sun will be setting in a few minutes over the Adaman Sea. If you are jealous you should be and if not, then I want to be where you are. So yea, I made it. My new alarm clock passed its first test and had me out front of my guest house at 5:20 this morning and right on time at 5:25 Mr Gao pulled up in this tuktuk and delivered me 20 minutes later at the departure door for domestic flights at Chiang Mai Airport. Flew Bangkok Airways to Bangkok, then 1 ½ layover and flight to Krabi. This time I promise to include the map – lol. The flight to ... read more

Hey All, Up and at ‘em early this morning. My guy Banana…… let me insert that most all Thai people have a long name, and everyone has a short nick name they use, like Job, Nan, and my guy today his nickname was Banana…… anyway picked me up early and asked if someone else could join us and of course I did not care. She was a nice girl from Italy and I am embarrassed to say I don’t remember her name. We visited Doi Inthenon National Park which is named for a former king of Chiang Mai, back when Chiang Mai was its own kingdom. All these smaller kingdoms joined together under one king later and became the Kingdom of Siam, which I am sure you have heard of if you have seen the movie ... read more

Hey All, Today was decision day, decided to stay one more day in Chiang Mai and luckily my room was available for another night. I visited a travel place and after mulling over several options from taking a bus to Lampang to flying south to an island, I opted to fly to Krabi, then take a ferry across to the island of Koh Lanta. It’s a very quiet, very non touristy place with lots of guest houses and bungalows along the beach. I figured a few days of beach time would be nice. I have about 3 places in mind from my research and will check availability before I head that way. It’s a pretty full day of travel, fly to Bangkok, then to Krabi, then find a minivan and drive to the dock for the ... read more
