The kind moustasted man with the newspaper sign with my name splet wrong probably made it a little easier last time, after 18hrs of travel, no sleep and an emerging sore thoat i was once again where i had stood almost 4 years ago, bewildered and praying not to be ripped off i threw on my pack and walked into the crowd of taxi men, my ill spoken Hindi and his inability to read made the location difficlut to get across and as the journey progressed i tried desperately to recognise something of the town i'd spent over a month in... When i arrived at the peace child office i was once again greeted by Viji, a famalir face, she is the interns house mother she cooks, cleans and looks after you. It was now 5am ... read more

As we wandered around Yangon, getting use it the taste in the air and the dust in our eyes, i was suddenly distracked by an old lady sitting under a tree. She had bright blue eyes and was smoking a cigar, her name was Ethel. As Myanamr is changing more and more people are traveling without guides and Ethel, is losing her profession. At something about 78 she had a broken hip, cracked teeth and a wicked look in her eye. She was amazing, we sat for tea and she told us tales of ex husbands, forgin loves and of course her excellanct tour guideing abilitys. We all knew that she was buttering us up, but it was nice to be buttered, she was interesting and diffrent the kind of woman that could have been a ... read more

Davie spoke of the wonders of the Privati Vally, known for wild weed and natural hot springs... The great thing about the fact there are no trains in the North is that you haven't booked a bus so plans can change, so just like that mine did. We left Shimla on a public bus a little later then we wanted, as we wound along small lands, beeping our way though vallys and mountains, i rocked into silent sleep. Half way though the 7hour jounry i was bursting for the loo, the driver stopped for chai in yes you've guess it a village with no bathroom, as i squatted behind a ruined building in the rain, again it came TII (This Is India!) We arrived in Buntar at 10.30pm, our destination was another 2 hr bus away ... read more

I left relatively clean Calcutta for fascinating Varanasi on my first A/C train... When i boarded & found my seat i was very pleasantly surprised to find a pillow, towel, blanket and 2 sheets folded on my bed! So surprised infact that i text Sebastian, a friend i met in the Ashram who is always trying to convince me to go A/C Class.. He replied with "Pillows are old news" haha! Its alright for some. Sleeper class might be slumming it but the price difference in vast... it cost me 400r (5pounds) to get from Chennai to Calcutta a 16hr journey and this 12hr journey to Varanasi in A/C is costing me 1500 (20pounds) It was worth it though as the train was 3hr late, so 15hr, with the weather a boiling 45+ I almost kissed ... read more

I seem to have something about me on over night buses in Thailand, last year when I returned to Bangkok from Koh Phangyan I was sat next to an Israeli guy who when we stopped at 2am for food ! (Don’t ask Thai buses are crazy) he told me he had been watching me sleep and had to resites from kissing me… WEIRDO! So this year as I sat next to a young gap year boy from England, I thought no problem... Well little did I know that this horny little mite would wake we up every so often with a soft stroking of me\y arms and hands, each time I would pull the exposed part of my body under my sleeping bag and ‘roll’ as much as one can in a sleeper bus over... Last year as i wandered the sand of my paradise beach, i could do nothing but smile. After the intensity of India, traveling and orphanage i found peace on my little beach of love. Each person i met had a beautiful story and an amazing energy... To top it all off the last few days i fell stupidly but happily in love :) When the boat drove round the corner and approached the beach, i smiled... Now i was home :) But the first foot on the beach floods of memory's... Am i here to relive memory's from the past or mask them with new ones? Finding somewhere to stay was the first difficulty, unlike last year the beach is full and all bungalows are packed :( We found somewhere at Big Blue for those of ... read more

Train to Pondi went well, i read Shantiram and drank lots of water... Found a guest house that was decent but a little too expensive for what it was, just as i was getting back into the Auto i saw a cute guy either the rooms... After two days alone, i was swayed pretty easily by a cute face, tbh I probably would have been even if i hadn't been alone, haha! Pondi's a cute little town, i did expect more of a beach though, which was disappointing but it was beautiful, which lovely old French style buildings. I found a cute cafe on the 'beach' that had good coffee and had the most amazing sandwich i've had in India!!! I never thought i'd get so excited about a sandwich but this mushroom and zucchini baguette ... read more

Munnar 4pm Monday 8th March 2010 Fiona and I sitting on bus 1, every hour they leave, or not! 5pm First bus full so departs, journey begins... Watching the sunset over the beautiful tea fields while winding down the hill sides. Fiona and I spent the whole first bus ride chatting and laughing, it was the first time we had really been alone together so we caught up on more personal things and i could talk and go though the still burning pain in my heart. We felt the travel fairy was with us when we arrived at the first bus station with only 10mintues until our next bus, we had coffee and a quick toilet stop before jumping on bus 2! When we arrived at bus stand 3 at 9.45 and found out our bus ... read more
