Dancing Dave
The dancing one is detailed and verbose and that is one of the things we love about him. If you look at our blogs from that trip we are not so detailed. MJ :)

Dancing Dave
Yes, I had read your blog early in my planning phase too, MJ. I've just run through it again, and as you do, I enjoyed the memories, even though I've only been back a couple of weeks. In many ways, I envy you that trip, doing it independently, as that is my preferred mode of travel and allows you to focus on some of the items (eg people and food) that you don't get the same opportunities when you are on a group tour. Sadly my wife doesn't share my enthusiasm and sense of adventure and much prefers our annual 5 star visits to the US to visit our grandchildren in Virginia.

Armenia rich in culture
We traveling with Dancing Dave and his wife Denise. You'll have to check out our blogs when you get home. Great country.

Armenia rich in culture
Yes, I remember reading all of David's blogs just after we had booked the trip. He certainly goes into greater detail on some of his topics than I do!

Armenia and more
We loved our time in Armenia and look forward to going back to do other nations in that area. We found lots of music off the beaten path while we were there. Steeped in history and friendly people we highly recommend this area to friends. We enjoyed the wines and the foods were great also.

Armenia
Brings me back to our foray in that ancient land last August, Neil. Nice summary. You should check out my blogs where I dealt in detail with the Armenian Genocide, the Monasteries & Khachkars and of course the most beautiful women in the World.

Armenia
Yeah, I remember reading your Armenian Genocide and the other accompanying blogs long ago when I first decided to visit these parts. Your treatment is of course a little deeper than mine in all areas but was an interesting read once again now that I'm back home. Our Armenian guide, Anahit, was very attractive - no coincidence, huh!

A different perspective of the Heydar Aliyev Cultural Centre

Azerbaijan
Great blog encouraging a foray into this Western Asian wonderland, Neil. Love that it shows its emergence from Soviet days with modern architecture that is designed to make a statement and must blow you away. We experienced the perspective from Armenia with whom it has closed borders. But as always...those that visit a country return with own their real time perspectives.

Love the energy in the market.

Azerbaijan
We made it to Armenia which we love but ran out of time to explore this area. We'll hope to do it in a future trip.

Azerbaijan
Good to hear from you guys. Well worthwhile country - very hospitable people as I'm sure you experienced in Armenia.

A New One for My Bucket List!?!
I never really considered visiting Azerbaijan, but after reading your blog I may put it on my bucket list! Nice account of your time there, and nice photos too.

Bucket List
Thanks for your kind comments. I think they apply to you and most of the world. These countries are still recovering from the Soviet era and really trying to attract tourists and this shows in most peoples' attitudes. This is even more apparent in Georgia, which I'll likely post later today.

Istanbul ...
Hey Neil, Husband Ted, and I, loved meeting you at our (fairly) recent TB get-together at Dancin' Dave's. Always love to meet and chat away to fellow bloggers and hear of their experiences. I can certainly understand the feeling of being violated when robbed of your possessions - certainly when travelling in a foreign country. Happened to me in St. Petersburg several years ago. With credit cards stolen and a huge debt run up on my behalf in a matter of 20 minutes. However, still love St. Petersburg and high praise for our bank, which acted very quickly once informed. :) Can't say the same for the police department in St. Petersburg though, when reporting the robbery. All day Russian bureaucracy at it's best. :) However, all part of the experience, I guess but, not really one I would put on my list of Top 10. :) Will look forward to some more of your blogs. Enjoy the Caucasus. :) Jan

Istanbul
Thanks Jan. I've done St Petersburg and while I enjoyed the visit, your story doesn't surprise me at all. Of interest, the formatting on the Istanbul blog screwed up on me (first time ever) and printed it all as one paragraph with some style and font info plugged in for good measure. Have you any idea how I get rid of this as it is doing it on my remaining blogs as well?

Great to see you are kicking up your heels Neil and as Canned Heat would say...On the road again. Enjoy.
