Leopard

Leopard
Such beautiful animals.

I love your pictures...
especially the leopard which was the only animal that we didn't get a good look at when we were on safari...the same parks you visited thus far.

Leopards
Thanks Bob. We too were limited with our clear viewing of leopards, despite seeing three of them, as they seem to like to sleep amongst the branches! You mention 'visited thus far' but I'm actually back in Oz as there is no way I could download pics and submit emails from the places I was visiting. That is why you are being bombarded with blogs so regularly now!

Wildebeest at war

Great action shots
Yeah, incidents like wildebeest fighting and vultures fighting over a carcass are the sorts of incidents you can't make a booking to see. Still, I'm not too disappointed I didn't see a lion in feeding mode!

Beautiful Zebras
Thanks for sharing. So nice.

Zebras galore

Beautiful Zebras
I couldn't agree more. There is something incredibly graceful about zebras and giraffes, and this is magnified when you see them en masse out on the open plains. My next blog after Serengeti (just posted) will show pics of all 27 species of animals seen in our five safari park visits. I guess there's no chance that you guys will be anywhere near the Washington DC region any time in August? We will be staying in Annandale VA for the month, visiting our grandkiddies, and it would be fun to catch up one of these days before we all get too old to recognise each other!

Whitewater Rafting: Exciting at any age!
Wow, I think whitewater rafting is exciting when you're young, but maybe even more so when you're of a certain age -- maybe because you've survived the experience or at least that's the way I feel! You deserve a lot of credit for getting through more than one 5-hole rapid unscathed! Even if the raft didn't flip, you might have, LOL!! We've rafted rivers in the US, Peru and Costa Rica but they were child's play compared to the Zambezi. Congratulations!

Whitewater Rafting
Thanks for your kind comments. Like you, I've rafted rivers in many parts of the world over the years, but there's a danger when you have turned 70 of trying to pretend you are 30 years younger and that can get you into trouble. I won't deny that some of the rapids had me gripping everything available, but the exhilarating feeling at the end of it made that all worthwhile.

Potholes and puddles on the main highway

Adventurous roads
Hi guys, I’m actually back home now as I needed to be able to merge narrative and pics on my home computer. I had some most interesting travels on the safari circuit and then with the tribes in Ethiopia. Have you guys covered these areas? I’m guessing yes.

The three mountains in Tongariro National Park

Tongariro
Thanks guys. It's a great part of the world, but as you would have read, the weather was not kind to us this time. This was of less concern to me as during my childhood spent in Wellington, our family would holiday every year at Taupo, so I've seen all these mountains in their glory, but I think it was disappointing for my fellow travellers.

Thanks for your kind comment, Bob. Like you I have travelled most of the world, much of it for business or pleasure before I started my blogs 12 years ago, and sadly many of those visits are very distant memories. Often my wife, Joan, will say something like "do you remember that night in Venice when we went out to dinner and you wore that awful red shirt and ordered the cannelloni" and to be frank, I can hardly remember even being in Venice! So these blogs are about my last chance to retain some memories, and I'm delighted that you enjoy them too.
