Istanbul ...
Hey Neil, Husband Ted, and I, loved meeting you at our (fairly) recent TB get-together at Dancin' Dave's. Always love to meet and chat away to fellow bloggers and hear of their experiences. I can certainly understand the feeling of being violated when robbed of your possessions - certainly when travelling in a foreign country. Happened to me in St. Petersburg several years ago. With credit cards stolen and a huge debt run up on my behalf in a matter of 20 minutes. However, still love St. Petersburg and high praise for our bank, which acted very quickly once informed. :) Can't say the same for the police department in St. Petersburg though, when reporting the robbery. All day Russian bureaucracy at it's best. :) However, all part of the experience, I guess but, not really one I would put on my list of Top 10. :) Will look forward to some more of your blogs. Enjoy the Caucasus. :) Jan

Istanbul
Thanks Jan. I've done St Petersburg and while I enjoyed the visit, your story doesn't surprise me at all. Of interest, the formatting on the Istanbul blog screwed up on me (first time ever) and printed it all as one paragraph with some style and font info plugged in for good measure. Have you any idea how I get rid of this as it is doing it on my remaining blogs as well?

Great to see you are kicking up your heels Neil and as Canned Heat would say...On the road again. Enjoy.

Always good to see a nice looking dog along the travels.

Yeah, I loved it but there again I love dogs. Having big dogs jump up at them is not everyone's cup of tea but it doesn't faze me one bit. Of interest, I'll be meeting up for the first time with your old mate Dancin' Dave in a fortnight as he hosts a TravelBlog get together for a Kiwi and an American fellow traveller.

Very good you can take the guys away any time you like ...Bass Strait is certainly doable. Seriously for a moment ....I enjoy reading your blogs so here’s a toast to your next trip from my armchair in Broulee.

Thank you Jean Ross, but I think Bass Strait might be just a bit too far out of my comfort zone, condoms or not! 'See you' at 8pm tonight.

Turkmenistan
Is this just a plug for another travel company? I don't see the relevance of it in response to a blog on Turkmenistan.

We got married in Barbados in 1994
You've brought back some wonderful memories. Love the Bathsheba coast. Loved your story of airport check in..... Caribbean style.

Barbados
Per my initial blog, the exit from Bridgetown was actually easier than the entry, but after 42 hours duration travelling time, I think 10 minutes would have felt too long processing us on arrival. But that is the price you pay these days to travel, and I suspect I could almost write a full book on Immigration and Customs experiences around the world as I worked out I’ve crossed over 1,000 country borders between my business and personal travels, and I’ve experienced some classics. I wish you could do something about your weather over here - I’m sick of staying indoors!

At anchor at sunset

Amazing Sunset
Thanks. This was taken with a basic camera on automatic setting. Imagine what could have been achieved with a sophisticated camera with filters n stuff!

On the road again
I'd love to take a trip on a clipper cruise. Traveling the Caribbean is a joy. Love the sunsets.

On the road again
I agree the clipper is a great experience and would certainly recommend it. The only downside for me, as mentioned in my summary blog, is that you spend most of the time mixing with Brits, Americans (with the greatest Respect!) and Germans rather than locals, and you’re eating western food (albeit of high quality) rather than sitting in a shack somewhere eating a Creole gumbo or the likes. I guess you can’t have it all!

Can you imagine growing up with all this beauty to play in? ...and the weather.

Locals Play
I couldn’t agree more. A change of weather for us now - it has hardly made it to freezing point in the 10 days we’ve been here in Virginia. They are rubbing it in back home where they are currently ‘suffering’ in 90-100 degree weather!
