BED Bugs I just came off the Habibi a few days ago and although the crew are very nice and provided us with plenty of food unfortunately the boat itself is not up to the standard it should be to cater for so many travellers. All the beds had BED BUGS which really ruined the trip for me as i am covered in bites and even tough this problem was made known to the staff it seemed to not shock them so i believe the company are deliberately ignoring the issue as i believe the company don't care about their passengers enough to fix the problem and lose out in a bit of money for a few days
Woah! Totally different to Peru isnt it???
I went two weeks after I got back from Peru. I flew into to Ho Chi Minh then went straight up to Hanoi. I liked the old quarter there, but agree with people trying to sell you stuff and dodgy taxi meters!
I then went 3hrs north east to a small "village" to do archaeology work. And when I say village, me and my lectuerer were the only westerners within miles and stood out like sore thumbs. I eventually got used to the staring. And we did get asked the same questions all the time because thats all the high school kids could ask in English!
By the end of three weeks I couldnt believe the rubbish (it would be gorgeous if they didnt litter so much), the noise (even during the wee hours of the morning), crossing the road i though I would die every time! dodgy massage parlours (aka pretty sure they were brothel type situations!), and eating rice for breakfast. Man I was desperate for bread by the time I got back to Hanoi!
Apart from that though I found the majority of locals to be very nice people. THe kids need a decent smack and do not need to be carried around every minute of the day! And i disagree with them eating all their cute animals and especially puppies! :(
I still admire you so much for travelling by yourself! Ur such a brave girl! :)
hope the rest of ur asain tours go better!!! xoxo
No worries! I had to leave it a couple of weeks before writing so I could put a little humour into it, otherwise it would have just been one very long, boring rant :)
I was having a really shit at work day but your blog just made me laugh loads. Especially the bit about the questions. Not sure it's meant to be humorous but thanks for that
Dear blogger,
I see that your blog is about travel and also has some amazing pics.Citymedia foundation(http://citymediafoundation.org) has launched www.city.vi , a network of 68,000 city specific video sites, where you can share videos about cities and regions across the world. Like for Sydney videos you can visit http://sydney.vi . You can also find out about other cities that you are interested . Hope to see you there :)
www.bsas4u.com Read all these memories, made me remind my time in the lovely city of Buenos Aires. Just like you, I took tango lessons and then attended a show. At first had no desire to attend this type of activity; however a good friend of mine that had done it before encouraged me to do so. I book online trough bsas4u, the same as she took during his time in the city. The show and the lessons in Complejo Tango were somewhat incredible, authentic and unique. I enjoyed a lot the whole activity and in the end I understood that I had experienced one of the most Argentinean days in my life.
Hello, we've been looking at your photos on the internet, glad your having a nice time
look forward to hearing about your australian travels next
love nan and grandad x
Hey!
It was amazing. I went with a company called Voyagers travel who were really helpful.
I booked it last minute with them whilst already in Ecuador but you can still book with them before you get there, I think they are actually based in the states but it will work out more expensive.
I can´t find their website at the moment but I´ll have a look and get back to you
What a shame! I read about the floods affecting tourism to Machu Picchu about a month ago in the Economist and had hoped that it wouldn't cause you to miss out. Obviously, that wasn't the case. The article did say that travel companies were offering tours to the Nazca Lines and Colca Canyon as alternatives. As you already had those booked, the Lares trek may have been all they had to offer by way of compensation.
WOW Hey! Ive always wanted to visit the galapagos islands I was just wondering who you went with, where you booked it from and how much it all cost? Ive been looking online but if its anything like Africa and Asia its far cheaper to book locally!
Cheers Eileen
