Hi All, went out for the day to Fish river canion yesterday,trully impressive, the story goes that the Bushman hunters came across a huge snake and atacked the snake, as the snake escaped it left the canion behind in its bid to get away, well thats what the locals say anyway. Today is maintenance day, checking and repairing, tightening bolts and nuts and soforth. Most of the roads in Nam. are gravel and very dusty and poor old buksietjie is every thing but airtight, we have to travel with the windows open to blow the dust out, need to clean our specs every 3 min. or else cant see a thing, but we are enjoying it any way, planning on leaving monday to Hardup dam near marians dal but will keep you informed. some pics. Hi All, well we finaly crossed the border into Nam but not without our ussual little chalanges, we managed the S.A side of custom and left to cross the Orange river into Nam, we stopped in the middle of the bridge to take some pics and i think Buksie was a bit afraid of leaving S.A so prompty cut out and would not start again, well after trying every thing in the book we decided she had to be forced across, i got in buksietjie witch was on the A frame and pushed her across to the Nam customs, must say they were very amused at this and offered all their help, well we cleared all our paper works ad nd explained to the Nam pollice at the customs that i would hhave to push her ... read more

Clan william to Port nollith

Hi all, we are now at port nollith a campsite called Mac dougalls bay after a stop over at Springbok, what is it with these municaple parks, after staying in a private park it is realy a let down to come to one of these parks, thay generally have awsome parks but very run down, no maintenance and shabby ablutions, well enough moaning. Once again the gremlins were with us, after leaving Clan william all went well for 80 km. then buksie started over heating, it was a very hot day 30 + so we unhitched buksietjie and Wanda had to drive her and i drove buksie but to no avail, just kept on over heating, so we decided to stop over at Springbok to sort out the problem, unfortunatly there isnt much in the way ... read more

Franschmhoek pass

Hi, we arived at a beutifull park 20 km otherside of Clan william called Ronde berg resort, 0n the Buls hoek dam, what a beutiful park, lovely green lawns, good kleen ablutions and the most buetiful few. thay have a little shop that supplys the basics, a hall with built in braai, big screen T V, and a pub. there are a couple of caravan sites with private ablutions and kitchen, very neatly done, the manager and his daughter run the place to the highest standerds i have seen in a long time, extreemly helpfull and very pleasant people, will post some pics of the place. O K its been a while but still going, We spent some time not to far from Capetown to be close to my mother who was and is still very ill, but we have decided to move on now, dont want to enter Namibia in mid sommer, so we are now traveling up the west coast, i had to renew my drivers license and have to wait another 3 weeks to recieve it then we will be entering Nam. In the meantime we have spent some time with my brother in gans baai, he has got a nice big boat and we did some good fishing, pity there are so many seals that kept on stealing our fish, if you dont reel in very fast it is good by fish, thay take it right of the ... read more

Hi All, It me again,who else could it be, huh, Just a short update on the latest, well as we were bussy with our final preps to move on to East londen I got a phone call from brother Barry in Capetown informing me that my mother had fallen ill and was admitted to Panarama hospital in icu, she was on a respirator and had to under go blood transfusion for 3 days, 3 hrt attacts and all sorts of complications, Wanda and and I decided to go down to Capetown in our unproved buksietjie witch now has proved itself, well Ma pulled thru and is now recovering. Our stay at riverside.

Hi All, Well it has been a relaxing stay here at riverside camp, not much in the way of of unexpected events, buksietjie sieced a camshaft due to me being worried over a cam belt that i thought was to slack for my liking and adjusting it to tight, but got it sorted and now she is going well, We are planning to leave here on Monday and going up to East Londen, thinking of staying at Yellow sands caravan park unless someone knows of a better place in that area, Wanda needs to go for a biopsy tomorow in Georg, a persistant sist in her mouth that wont heal. We hope it is not to sereous. We took a drive to Oudshorn and got some ostrich meat at the abetour at good prices so thats ... read more
