Nick: For our first full day in Mendoza, the weather was pretty grim, with heavy rain that persisted for the entire day. The timing was quite good, however, as after our jaunt in Patagonia we had a lot of catching up to do in terms of planning our impending travel and accommodation in Chile and beyond. Much of the day was spent sat on the bed, scouring cheap flights and looking for hostels, until, with all of the organisation bang up to date, we donned our waterproofs and ventured out to have a wander around. As it turned out, our arrival the previous day had coincided with the first day of a two day bank holiday, and many of the shops, cafes and restaurants in town were closed.
