So... I'm back in Malaysia. Was only 9 months ago I was here. It hasn't changed at all!! I flew in from Krabi which took about an hour... The flight was ok, Air Asia is a no thrill airline but was by far the best decision I've made as flying here saved me a huge amount of time, cost hardly anymore than getting a bus but most importantly avoided the dangers of south thailand which seems to be on every backpackers mind. I landed at the LCC terminal at KLIA and walked to the terminal building to pass through immigration. First we had to have our temperature checked as part of the influenza A (swine flu) prevention procedure. I was so glad we didn't all have to have blood tests as I would of just passed ... read more

So the couple of days I spent In krabi were ok, not very productive as to be honest knowing the days ahead of me were going to be hectic I just decided to relax, enjoy the friendly atmosphere at the good dreams guesthouse, watch a few films with other backpackers, eat some tasty dishes they had to offer in the resturant outside my room and basically relax. I took a walk round krabi briefly, the town it's self isn't amazing but it's very calm, peaceful and has some beautiful views. The staff at the guesthouse were friendly and chatty. Many comments were made when I showed them a picture of me with straight long hair which was amusing, that's happened a few times now. I'm actually writing this in Krabi airport although I won't be able ... read more

Wow seems like ages since i've done a blog.. i tried to do one the other day, wrote loads but then the internet died and i lost it all. Never mind. So yeah.. i left Kanchanaburi, was really sad to leave as i loved being there so much i really did, felt like home, and at the same time i felt closer to my home aswell. I worked in the internet cafe there which was great fun, earning my keep, cheaper accomadation and free food which was good... need to save as much money as i can so that really helped. Stuart and Ice were amazingly friendly, i really felt part of the family there which was great. Got rid of all the home sickness I had and just let me relax with no worries. Perfect. ... read more

Wow i've been here for ages but I absolutely love it here, so laid back, friendly people, no stress at all!! The other day me and Stu got up in the early hours in the morning to get a day of fishing in (i honestly would never have guessed how much I enjoy it) went and got some food, although i wasn't feeling very well... not used to getting up after a couple hours sleep!! Got some fishing supplies.. this time we bought live bait in the form of worms which we thought was a great idea! Got a net to put our catches in, not a big net as we weren't that optimistic but still enough room for a few fish. Picked up some more fishfood stuff and some weights for the lines then headed ... read more

Good morning! Quite a lot has happened since my last entry so I shall start from where i left off... Fishing So me and Stuart headed off to the fab fishing spot we had found on our adventures the other day, 2 fishing rods in hand, some Thai style fish food stuff and traps, other fishing bits n pieces that had been collected over the years but most importantly.. we had optimism!!! We arrived whilst it was still sunny so that we could set up, mixed together this powder and food to use to catch the fish which takes about 15 minutes to make... whilst that was being prepared i started practicing my cast which at first seemed quite easy... we had these fake fish with hooks on to try attract fish to where we were ... read more

The night after I published my last blog was quite an interesting one... The ladyboy that we met the other night came into the internet cafe (ill refer to him as her/she as thats what she wants to be) Stuart told me she comes in quite a lot. She was doing dances and all sorts which was highly entertaining. Thats her way of meeting men on the internet... it is a strange culture though. Yesterday I went round all the war cemetarys with stuart which was really interesting, hundreds of allied soldiers who died, the stones were beautifully laid out and the place was clearly well looked after. One stone stood out from the others, it was a man who was 21 and on it was a note from his son who visited a few days ... read more

The night market After my blog entry yesterday Me, Stuart and Ice all jumped on Stuats ped (yes 3 of us on one motorbike which seems to be normal over here) and we headed off to a night market to get some food, look around and just see where the night takes us. We got to the market and grabbed a bite to eat - once again my zero tolerance for spice meant that the very small amount of spice on my rice actually felt like my mouth was on fire! Not only that but because the chicken I had still had all its bones my mouth was a complete mess. After my lovely meal we headed into the market. It was boiling hot, full of people but really quite exciting. The first thing that ... read more

Kanchanaburi is really nice, not all of it but the places i've seen so far have been amazing. So much history here and the culture is clearly influenced by it, even though thousands of people come to visit, the area hasn't become a tourist attraction which is great. Day 1 in Kanchanaburi Anyway the 1st day I arrived I had a rest as I was exhausted from the traveling mayhem from the morning. Woke up and went and got some food from the guesthouse restaurant... well i say from the guesthouse restaurant but actually what they do is order it from a local place and have i delivered lol. Then met a girl who is volunteering at tiger temple which sounds amazing, I wish i could of done it but you have to stay there for ... read more

So.... Ill start from leaving Chiang Mai... after my last entry I got some bad news... no more room on the bus to Bangkok!! I needed to leave that day so i went in search for an alternative. Neil was going to get the night train down to bangkok so i thought that was the next best thing!! 821 baht it cost though :s nearly tripple the cost of a bus but hey! I met up with Sean and Carina for a nice meal at the Wall for a good bye thing, they are off to Laos so was a good time for me to leave aswell. Me and Neil headed off the train station and I realised how much I was going to miss Chiang Mai, not because of where it was but because of ... read more

So it's my last night in chiang mai. Yesturday was really good. Had my shave which was just amazing, started off my just laying down having a wet towel massaged over my face, then came the really monty smelling shaving foam, rubbed some of that in, then out came the cut throat blade and away she went, felt good!! I was just loving every second, so much so I was nodding off to sleep. Sean was having his done at the same time. After the shave part she rubbed aftershave in which stung loads but only for a minute, a few minutes later I got to feel the finished product and boy did it feel good. Well worth £1.70!! Yay for cheap labour! We then headed off into the Sunday Market which was amazing, loads of ... read more
