Almost six months without travelling, I don't know how we did it! The minute my passport arrived, we were already booking our flights to Budapest for 5 days. Budapest is a great place for at least a long weekend. There are plenty of Spas to relax in, big and small, great views over looking the Danube river and over the city, great architecture and unique nightlife locations. We visited the famous Széchenyi Thermal Bath which looks amazing on the inside but also the most popular and busiest. They have countless different pools, inside and out with varying temperatures. The other Spa we visited was the smaller and more authentic looking called Kiraly Medicinal Baths which was much quieter and even cheaper. We found ourselves in a suitable AirBnb just up the road from the infamous ruin ... read more

Asia » Indonesia » Bali » Nusa Lembongan October 24th 2016

Geo: -8.68711, 115.441One year later and we're back in Indonesia! It felt like we hadn't left and that it was only yesterday that we were getting married and on our honeymoon.Although this year we decided to explore Nusa Lembongan and Lombok. We had heard some good things about Nusa Lembongan and we were looking forward to diving with the manta rays. Our first night was in Sanur then a quick boat ride to the island. Nusa Lembongan is a nice small island with quite a few things to see and do such as diving, snorkelling, kayaking the mangroves, chilling on the beach and enjoying the stunning views of the blue waters facing Bali. It can all bee seen in one day by hiring a scooter. We stayed there for some time and really enjoyed it. Unfortunately we didn't get ... read more

Geo: 43.2693, 6.63981Finally I've made it to the real south of France! The most south I've ever been. What a nice (no pun intended) area to visit. We flew in to Nice which we visited for a half day. Nice was quite cool. The amount of difference in the architecture matched with the surrounding sea and looming foothills of the alps makes it an interesting place to visit. We hired a car and set off to the Lac de Sainte-Croix two hours northwest of Nice. We stayed at the small village of Les Salles de Verdon and did a few day trips from there. The lake has an amazing blue colour and is lovely to swim in, especially in the heat of summer. We were there a few weeks after peak season so the atmosphere was calm and quiet. We ... read more

Geo: 60.3881, 5.3318531 countries at the age of 31, not bad.Norway! I've always had a soft spot for the country but it's well known the be the most expensive country in the world, and yes! Quite true. However we played it smart and booked a campsite and a car between the four of us and did a food shop in the UK and brought it over.Anna and I were there to meet up with and spend a bit more time together with Richard and Rikki. The first few days we were there was perfect warm sunny weather and we took advantage of Bergen's two view points, Ulriken and Floyen, both amazing view points with walks attached to the tops. We did a bit of walking in and around town.We benefited from a Air BnB accommodation right by the ... read more

Geo: 55.9503, -3.18761Who would have thought that a weekend trip to Edinburgh would result in seeing the Queen! Twice!I had gone there to spend some time with my brother Richard, and Rikki.I was pleasantly surprised by Edinburgh, and at the time we were there, there were a few events happening which made it more action packed than first thought. In the morning we realised that the day coincided with the opening of Scottish Parliament and the Queen was there for a visit. We decided to see what the fuss was about and grabbed prime position to see the Crown and the Queen and Price Phillip arrive in to parliament, flanked by a big entourage of the Scottish Guard. Afterwards there was a parade and also the pride. The streets were pretty busy but it made for quite an ... read more

Geo: 4.1748, 73.5089Finishing off our incredible honeymoon in the Maldives was one of the best ideas ever! All inclusive for 5 nights in this amazing setting was definitely an amazing experience and memory. We stayed at The Meeru Resort which is an hour boat ride direct from the airport. Our accommodation was an Overwater Jacuzzi Bungalow and the views were incredible!! We never got sick of the views! Our room was great! Heaps of different marine life would swim by our room, reef sharks, trumpet fish, stingrays, squid and heaps of other varieties of fish, unfortunately no turtles ha.Five days was already amazing but we wished we had more time. We spent our days relaxing on the beach and doing some activities. We went kayaking, we took a scenic flight over the islands which was so beautiful. We took ... read more

Geo: 8.08403, 77.5419After a brilliant week with our tour group we were back on our own. We took a night bus to Kodaikanal via Palani. It rained heavily as we left and we passed an ambulance on its side in the middle of the road! Only in India! We arrived at 4am into Palani which wasn't pleasant, strong urine smells, rubbish everywhere, dodgy and drunk people all around and a guy hitting a lady in the face.We got to Kodaikanal in the western ghats where the altitude increased to 2000 masl. I guess we had high expectations of Kodaikanal but we found that the room was damp and cold, that shops don't open until 11 and to find a non Indian breakfast is a struggle. We didn't have a very good first impression and after a nap ... read more

Geo: 10.012, 76.2251The famous Kerala backwaters and Varkala Cliffs were all part of a one week G Adventures tour that we had got through Anna's work. We always travel independently so it was a different experience. We arrived in to Kochi after taking an overnight bus from Mysore. In the evening we met our group. Surprisingly and luckily it was a small group of 8 including us. A few Brits, two Aussies, a South African and one from Sweden. Apparently it was meant to be a group of 15 but half had cancelled. Our guide Preetvih was from Rajhastan and spoke French after doing the last two years guiding French people. Our trip took us from Kochi to Alleppy to Kollam to Varkala using all forms of Indian transport. All of the transport and accommodation was included ... read more

Geo: 15.3333, 76.4667Ah! Hampi! This is one awesome place to visit! In the middle of nowhere, surrounded by boulders and rocks, big and small. Two to three days is a good amout of time to see everything here. We arrived very early by overnight bus from Goa along with many other blurry eyed travellers. We spent the first day walking nearby and going up the hill for some superb scenic views. There is also a tuk tuk tour available which most drivers will try to get you to do from the moment you step out of the bus door. It's quite beneficial to do this tour as there is a lot to see and it's a quick way to get around. The price isn't too bad either for a full day tour. We saw many temples and even ... read more

Asia » India » Goa » Agonda December 12th 2015

Geo: 15.0419, 73.985India! Round two. Back to where Anna and I met! This time would be different and more special. We had a month in India so we decided to explore the south. Our first point of call was Goa. Goa is actually the state name and there are plenty of beaches in the north and south. We decided on Agonda Beach in the south. There is plenty of accommodation along the beach which is two kilometres long, quiet and relaxing. It was a couple of weeks from peak season so it was very quiet and deserted almost. The following morning we did a boat tour to visit a few beaches and dolphins. We were disappointed with the trip as the beaches weren't anything special. We did see some dolphins which was really exciting. T he ... read more
