Dates and Times Hi, your blog is great and really makes me want to do this tour, however I have limited time left and want to use it the best I can. Do you know how I can contact the tour company ahead of time to book the dates so I don't end up sitting in San Pedro for days waiting for a tour to leave? Or do you remember what days they left?
Thanks!
Cabañas de William Hi,
Great blog! Do you have a website or any contact details for Cabañas de William? Sounds like a nice place but I couldn't find anything online.
Cheers,
Brady

Wonderful trip Thanks for your trouble giving valuable information I cannot obtain a Bolivian visa in my home country as they dont have a consulate there neither they have one in Santiago de Chile, can you obtain one in San Pedro de Atacama before starting on the Salar de uyuni tour with the help of the tour agent. Thank you.
Great trip! Hola. Am looking at doing a very similar trip in late October this year. I'm especially keen to do the San Pedro de Atacama to Uyuni tour and yours sounds like it was really good. I've heard it's difficult to know who to go with. The one thing I have to ask though is what you thought about the salt hotel things. I've read they should be avoided as it's bad ecotourism (etc) but just wondering if you know how easy it might have been to find a tour that avoided them.
help - salt flat tour Hi - (May 31, 2008)
It seems that you were successful in booking a group tour from San Pedro Atacama to Uyuni. I have not been able to make contact with any company and your site certainly seems to indicate that you were able to do this and had a wonderful experience. My daughter and I are touring different countries in South America during July and Aug. on a budget, and one part involves leaving Santiago and going to San Pedro Atacama and then were hoping to get to Uyuni via a tour of the salt flats and then proceed to La Paz (sound familiar!!)
I would appreciate any help that you can give me - I have really come to a standstill - Looking forward to heariang from you -
Maxine
We are trying to book a tour so that we can in turn apply for our visa (which as of Dec. 2007 US citizens have to do) so we really need to get some confirmation on our itinerary.
Don't use Estrella del Norte company Hi, I am a Spanish traveler. This is a advise to everybody, do not use the Estrella del Norte company for Uyuni tour!!, use another company more secure (in San Pedro or in the web you can find better companies like Colque and others). The drivers of this company (Estrella del Norte) steal to the tourists and lie constantly. I was in February and my Bolivian driver (Carlos) stole me a North Face coat.
the best hi, there is no doubt, that this is the best post i've found about the trip from san pedro to uyuni and la paz. looking forward to do sth. similar in about one or two weeks. gracias
Please help! :) Hi!
I stumbled on your blog whilst trying to plan my trip over south america. Its wonderful and extremely helpful...thankyou!
There is just one question that I can't seem to find the answer for anywhere:
This antiplano tour that you did with 'Estrella Del Sur' from San Pedro de Atacama to Uyuni, do they return you to San Pedro if you need to get back? or is it just a one way tour? because we will need to return back to chile...it doesnt matter if it takes us to a different city, maybe calama or antifagasta, but we just need to know how to get back from Uyuni!! Perhaps you might know if there are busses that go that way? Any ideas??
Kind regards and many thanks,
Michelle x

How impressive is that Your travel log stories would inspire Bill Bryson. I'm surprised he hasn't contacted you yet (or has he) Keep them coming. Most enjoyable.

Hello from Queensland Hi there
Sounds like you're finding your feet OK. I found all your photos interesting and the account of your first days, fascinating. What did the "best meal yet" consist of? Hope you pick up on the Spanish soon. Keep the blog going. It's really good.

Wish I was with you! Looks lovely in the cabin! My ceiling caved in at the shop with quite a bit of water damage. Engineers here to brace it up. Life is such a challenge! I will be watching your travels with great interest....and jeaslousy.
