Alaska the Beautiful
Boundless beauty and nature in Alaska. One of our most natural states. Years ago I almost took a nursing job in Homer but it didn't work out. I've always wanted to go back. Love the animals, birds and more. Keep these great blogs coming.

Much like Iceland and Norway
I don't know if you have ever visited Iceland or Norway. If you haven't and if you liked Alaska I can recommend Iceland and Norway. You will get similar nature experience as in Alaska. They are both expensive countries to travel in but very rewarding. /Ake

Alaska would be interesting
Thanks for posting this blog entry. I'd love to visit Alaska some day. I am sure it would be interesting. Alaska is actually on almost exactly the same latitude as Sweden but much larger and much more sparsely populated. /Ake

What an amazing sight Lynne...buoys climbing from the front yard onto the verandah. One wonders if then into the house through a window. I wonder if anyone in Homer is missing a buoy or two for their boat or two!!!

My mindset of Alaska is cold, cold, cold, Lynne. Great to see your pics of green grass, red flowers and native American artifacts that zing with colour. Sounds like a magic time of year to be there. How cold was it when you were there?

Dave , We have been lucky to have a high of 60 deg F at times, mostly in the 50s ... but lots of cloud , rain and fog. This is their summer weather pattern I guess !

Finding special Italian locations
Always good to find something before the crowds. There is something special standing in a room surrounded by marble and gold....and chanting. What an experience. Italian train travel....I'm beginning to plan our trip to northern Italy in the fall and will be doing research on those trains you've been riding.

We found it easy to book online and you get ticket and scan code to your phone or iPad . Or if you get a paper ticket at station you must validate it before you board the train. Best of luck with your Italian trip ..look forward to your blog then.

Roman ruins
Supposedly there are more Roman Ruins in Turkey than in Italy. I am actually just on my way to Naples to see Pompeii so it as nice to get to see another blog entry with Roman ruins in it. /Ake

Keeping this travel blog enables me to reflect and record my journeys as well as communicate with my family and friends. I shouldn't be amazed me that complete strangers in this travel community will want to read about what I am up to as they are a great bunch of folk. I have swapped my home and hospitality for many years now and always I have met such wonderful open, generous and friendly people.
