At trip's end
Thanks for sharing your Cambodia and Vietnam trip with us - I've really enjoyed following along for the ride! I had to laugh when you mentioned your newly acquired road crossing skills...on our first morning in Vietnam, we kept walking around the block as we just couldn't cross the road (until some locals took pity on us and shepherded us across). Safe travels and looking forward to your next adventure :)

Road crossing
Maybe I was overconfident with my road crossings ! I just kept saying ..follow me they won’t knock down an old lady !! I do hope I can go back to that part of the world some time.- Thailand and Indonesia maybe. Thanks for reading.

Life in the fast lane
Can’t believe you managed to fit in so much !! What a wonderful trip

Japanese Bridge

Nice bridge
I like that bridge. I don't remember that I saw that when I was in Vietnam. I wish I had though. I think it was in Hoi An that I had a bunch of clothes tailor made for me. If I ever go back I will have some more made because they were good. /Ake

Japanese Bridge

Bridge
Yes it’s in Hoi An , the Japanese Bridge - it divided the town Chinese merchants on one side , Japanese on the other. We could have bought more clothes too.

Hoi An
Thanks for the amusing/interesting information and photos about Hoi An Lynne!

Hoi An
I agree with you Lynne, we could have spent many more days just walking through the old town on Hoi An - shopping and eating :) Love your photos of the water stained yellow buildings.

The Town of Lanterns and so much more
Glad they changed your hotel. Sounds like you are having a marvelous trip. The lanterns make it so warm and inviting.

The War
As you say no one wins during a war. My brother died in Vietnam so my trip there was a bit different for me. A lovely country full of complexities. I believe the mausoleum was open when we were there. We enjoyed the people, the food and it gave me some closure. Eager to read more.

Mausoleum

Could you enter?
Could you enter the mausoleum? Some of the old communist leaders are on constant lit de parade. Mao Tse Tung is and Lenin at least used to be. How is it in Vietnam? /Ake

Mausoleum

Mausoleum
No we couldn’t go in .. our guide said it closes for several months a year. It’s kind of chilling to me to keep these bodies in “aspic” so to speak .

Iced coffee and pho
Your photos of the iced Vietnamese coffee and beef pho had me drooling! Looking forward to your blogs when you head north. Even though it's a cliché, I can't see how there are ever any winners in war :(

Food
We love all the food , it was so full of flavours ...and wonderful salads - with unknown ingredients !

Serene

Mý favourite was the Bayon
I actually liked the Bayon better than Angkor Wat. I absolutely fell in love with all those faces. One day I hope I can go back to Cambodia. I fear that it might be much different today and that some of the magic has been spoilt. /Ake

Bayon
I loved all the faces too, and it was still magical there in Cambodia.

Decades of rebuilding
Your photos are grand! You've captured country life. It is hard to believe a poor country like this would focus on rescue and conservation. That speaks to the good character of these people.

Imagine living here .

Great view
Gives a new meaning to waterfront property.

Imagine living here .

Waterfront
Given the seasonal flooding they seem to have worked out a way of living and with climate change we might need some lessons from them to survive in some regions.

City of Temples
Into the dark of night one treks to get the perfect view of Angkor Wat. Love your photos. We agree the humidity is unimaginable.

Angkor Wat
This was an amazing experience, so many temples but all so different and beautiful. The craftsmanship was stunning!

No rules of the road
Confidence is the key to crossing the road as you have described. View of the market from your hotel must have been nice. Love those roof top pools. We loved the dancing and the shadow puppets.
