Europe » Ireland » County Clare » Bunratty November 29th 2015

We got a late start to our travels today, we are getting our fair share of much needed sleep on this trip. We spent our day at Bunratty castle and Folk Park, touring this restored castle and grounds. The castle is filled with historic artifacts and beautiful tapestries. They had a special Christmas event going on which was very festive and wonderful to see. Heading back home tomorrow, we have a full day of travel ahead of us. Matt and I loved our visit to Ireland, the scenery, kind people, food, and historical sights helped us learn about this amazing country.... read more

Europe » Ireland » County Cork » Blarney November 28th 2015

Today Matt and I decided to head south of Adare to Blarney Castle to kiss the famous Blarney Stone. We were a little worried about weather because when we woke up is was really raining and windy. Good news, once we began traveling the sky's cleared and we had a very nice fall day to experience Blarney and enjoy the gardens and grounds surrounding the castle. After leaving Blarney we continued south through Cork to an adorable little town on the water called Kinsale. We spent time enjoying the quaint shops and pubs, wondering throughout the streets looking for treasures. We ended our day at a local pub in Adare called Auncy Lena's having the traditional Irish dinner bangers and mash and few beers! Perfect Irish day...... read more

Europe » Ireland » County Waterford » Waterford November 27th 2015

Today we set out to experience the southwest coast of Ireland in Waterford. We toured the Waterford crystal factory and watched veteran glassblowers work their magic creating gorgeous works of art. In this factory they only make the specialty items such as golf trophies and custom pieces. Other Waterford crystal is made elsewhere for export and sale. While in Waterford we stumbled on a special Christmas festival called Winterfest throughout the city. Vendors were selling specialty goods and food in little wooden huts in the city center. Just adorable! We also had a great lunch and toured two historic sights Reginald's Tower and Bishops Palace. Both beautiful and unique in their own way. The tower is the oldest standing structure in Ireland. At one time, over a 1000 years ago the tower was used to protect ... read more

Europe » Ireland » County Kerry » Kenmare November 26th 2015

Be began our 460 kilometer travel journey today in the town of Kenmare, filled with adorable shops and charming streets. We spent most of the day driving the Ring of Kerry filled with beautiful views and winding narrow roads. It was a bit foggy at the top of the cliffs but the views we were able to see were gorgeous. We attempted to make it to Dingle Town, but ran out of daylight so we headed back to Adare. We had dinner at 1828 Adare which was delicious. The restaurant is in a thatched roof house built in 1828, what a unique local experience in this adorable town.... read more

Europe » Ireland » County Dublin » Dublin November 24th 2015

We landed in Dublin around 4:00am here after a great flight! It took some time to get our rental car and make it into Dublin. Our first stop today was Trinity College and the Breathtaking Book of Kells. From there we walked to the Guinness Storehouse and tour. This was very interesting to learn about and visiting this seven story display of the brewing process gives you a new understanding of this tradition. We made it to the top of the brewery and sampled our very own local beer. Next, Matt and I enjoyed a short time to sample some of the local food. The unique pubs are decorated beautifully for Christmas. Later in the afternoon, we drove to Adare where we are staying for the week. Our accommodations are wonderful and a great home base ... read more

North America » United States » Wyoming » Jackson January 23rd 2015

Today is our last day in Jackson Hole, WY and we had an awesome snowmobiling trip to the Granite Hot Springs just south of Jackson. We joined a tour that took us from our hotel to pick up the snowmobiles. We snowmobiled about 10 miles into granite Park and proceeded to put our bathing suits on and spend an hour in the 114° hot spring. Next we hopped back on the snowmobile and had lunch at a little hut in the middle of the snowmobile trails. We also stopped and got a great picture of Granite Falls. We saw a lot of wildlife along our trip today including elk, bighorn sheep, and antelope. This time we had the opportunity to snowmobile off trail in wide open fields a bit which was definitely interesting and so much ... read more

North America » United States » Wyoming » Jackson January 22nd 2015

Matt and I went to Snow King mountain today in town in Jackson. Matt of course, had no problem on the mountain however it was a big challenge for me. The views from the top of the lift were beautiful and we were able to see for miles. It was much more difficult skiing than we anticipated and I spent more time in the snow on my bottom then on the snow. After one run I called it quits, but glad I attempted. Matt was so patient and took his time with me going down the mountain. It was much more icy than we anticipated. An absolute highlight of the trip was our dinner this evening, we took a gondola from the Grand Teton Mountain Village to the top of Rendezvous mountain peak. We had a ... read more

Matt and I left our hotel this morning at 6:30 AM and began our journey to Yellowstone National Park with the Scenic Safaris tour group. There were nine other people in our group and our group leader's name was "Boone". He was very knowledgeable about the park and an excellent tour guide. We drove to the entrance of Yellowstone, had a great breakfast and picked up our snowmobiles at the Flagg Ranch at the southern entrance to the park. We entered the park around 9:30 AM and snowmobiled up to Old faithful geyser which was about 30 miles or two hours north. We stopped many times along the way to see beautiful waterfalls and gorgeous scenery. Old Faithful erupts daily at approximately 11:30 AM and we were able to witness this daily occurrence. After a quick ... read more
