haha slainte! (i said that the other day and people looked at me like i was crazy). i miss you, but i am so happy for you! i cannot wait to try whiskey with you in scotland :)
Wow Cool stuff. Great pictures. Sorry about the long walks, but it sounds as though you're having a wonderful time. The pictures make me want to be there.
oh, I've had my fair share of bus drivers like that... like one that kept driving even though the back of the bus was engulfed in flames. True story. (though I was on the OTHER bus..)
WOW!!! Oh, MB, you can sure tell a story! As usual the photos are a delight, and it sounds as though the homestay was a success in spite of an inauspicious beginning. But, that's what good stories are made of, aren't they? I'm glad classes are going well, and yes, I know how much you are looking forward to Natural Hazards. Don't let our teasing put you off--Creation is ongoing, and awesome, and you're right to love it! Love and xoxoxo's
Your photos are amazing ! I love your descriptions as well. If you've found a venue to dance, then you've found a bit of home in Scotland (Contra dances from Maine and square dances from the South...all the same roots...right where you are now). We all love your postings and are thrilled for you. Panthers lost one today against the Vikings (O-line stinks). Sox are still in pursuit of a playoff slot. Love you. Dad
Who's Mike Griggs???!!!! Your Castle Market reminds me of my beloved Portobello Market in London...I'd go almost every Saturday. I'm reliving my past reading your blogs, MB! I love them and you! GREAT purses, too...you must snag one next shopping trip :)!! Patty
I'm enjoying your adventures And I was especially struck by seeing the Saltire Flag next to the Union Jack and your comment "I love this country". I came away from it feeling the same in so many ways. You are so fortunate to have this opportunity in that most green and beautiful of countries, MB, so soak up every molecule. Someday you'll be happily back home but wistfully thinking "I wish I'd seen more". So see it all.
Following your adventures and nearly living vicariously through them, :-)
Kathy
(your Mom's old Panther friend "Pan" from up in the foothills--we went to a game together when you and my son Matt were about 12--you probably don't even remember but we had a great time with all of you).
Congratulations! You go, girl!!!! Or rather "You went!!!" As Patty says there is NOTHING you can't do---so sorry you had to go through the travel hassles, but it will all fade in the glories of your new surroundings...reading your descriptions takes me back to my first days in Scotland, SIGH...! Granny, The Girls and I all send much love and "Happy Trails"! ----Christy
I CANNOT believe you are in Scotland RIGHT NOW!!!!! I AM SO HAPPY FOR YOU!!! (and jealous of you but hey, can you blame me?)
I MISS YOU!!!!! have a pint for me - and send me your address!
OMG! OMG -like, just how much fun are you having??!! My eyes were misty reading your blog, darling!!! I am so proud of how you handled your travel ordeal -- you can go anywhere and do anything now, lassie! You can thank your dad for getting you to Charlotte Douglas in plenty of time :)!!! I can't wait to hear more...have you had a "black and tan" yet? I liked those over in England. Your friends look great, too. Get some rest and soak it all in...it sounds like you are doing the latter anyway! Cheers my sweet niece!!
Love, Patty
snnnnnnniiiii-zort! Here's the comment you were expecting from your mom about your messy room... Yeah, consider it done.
Love the pictures--can't wait to see some from Edinburgh, much as we'll miss you!
Slainte!
Hi...you don't know me...but I just joined TravelBlog and I came across your blog. I teach 7th grade world geography in Wisconsin, but I spent a semester abroad in Scotland when I was in college so I was drawn to your blog. You are going to have an AMAZING adventure. It has been 10 years since my experience and I still remember everything...enjoy the ride!
I'm a student at Tufts who is traveling to Scotland to study at the University of Edinburgh of a year, and of course travel around Europe on the way!
