Thanks for the perspective As one of those living vicariously through you I appreciate the perspective you have provided...I can't get the image of your cold butt out of my mind and I'll probably have to talk about that in therapy next week but thanks...really. As to the trivia question, no idea but I'm guessing the bonus question as hops.
I dont feel sorry for you--- OK, stop with the whining! We all hate you and our mundane lives back here in the east. Yes, I can go to the ocean but, would love to be in your shoes. Besides, the Vault toilet has nothing on the squatty potties of Thailand, or did you block those from your memory? Have no idea on the trivia questions but will throw out an answer for participation purposes-1) Mary Anne 2)Prunes See ya! PS-Susan, you're looking quite skinny, just how much hate do you want???????
I'm so proud. I'm so very proud I am in touch with the pagan world and thus won the prize, which I am anticipating with great glee. Please don't tell my parents.
Looking Great Lots of great photos; looks like you're still having a great time. Looks cold at Mt. Washburn!! Hard to think about that here - I'm sitting on Folly Beach as I write this entry. Beautiful and definitely NOT COLD! In the tradition of the three hikers and their great songs, Mark and I are penning one in your honor; we'll pass it along. We'r anxious to hear more stories.
Foodies Jim, just so you know, I like when Susan posts what your menus have been. I don't think about what the menus might have done to your digestive systems (eyew). Instead I think of some of our favorite camping meals and yours give me new ideas! Creative cooking outdoors is fun, most of the time.--Rachel
Room service anyone? I can contribute some Marriott Rewards points if you need them. Otherwise sounds wonderful. I want to see Crazy Horse before I die, as the book would put it.
Question AH! i am so freaking envious of you cats right now! it sounds like you are having a wonderful time.... is there any chance that you are going to wind up at Sequioa at some point in your trip? love yalls!
Pagans Among Us The mountains of western North Carolina are filled with pagans who leave their stone circles along trailsides and on mountaintops. There was a story in the Asheville paper a couple of weeks ago about this, and my Friends of Great Smoky Mountains newsletter reports an increase of so-called pagan worship sites in the national park. Just wondering. Moose, are you sure you didn't arrange those antlers in some sort of pagan frenzy?
You are becoming the very thing you're observing It sounds as if you three are having a wonderful time, but I am concerned that not bathing regularly will lead to more primal behavior. Try to remain tied to civilization, if only because those of us back home are still in it. Joe and I have been in New England, up in Maine with the moose and loons on Highlands Lake. Now back to reality. I am envious of your adventures; the pictures are amazing. My dad had a minor stroke. No other news. Life in civilization goes on.
Hike to hot springs If you get a chance, hike out to Huckleberry Hot Springs and take a dip. It's located in the area between Yellowstone and the Tetons, the Rockefeller Memorial Parkway. The park service will not give you directions because they officially discourage people from using it. When we were there 7-8 years ago, they told us we would be exposed to radiation if we went in. As far as I know, no one has started glowing yet. You should be able to Google a topo map to find it. It's a short off trail hike.
Wow, what have you guys been smoking? Attracting all that wildlife. You are just having too good of a time! Makes me wanta quit my job (?), sell the house (!), and hit the road (again). We chuckle every time we read your travel blog, and then we sigh with envy. (Although, hey, we tried to warn you about the Badlands!) Happy trails . . .
I am with you in spirit! Well, for a quarter mile or so, then my spirit needs to lie down and take a spirited nap.
I am dealing with the heartbreak of no movie night by staying home sick today, but I am going to try to get out to the new downtown Riviera this afternoon and see Rat uh too wee, if the interval between, uhhh, let's call it visitations from my little friends widens.
I've heard the "adult substances" out west are fabulous; let me know if you see a camel.

Yahoo to cowbus Cowbus, sorry you were delayed, hope by now you guys have hooked up and sightseeing orgy has commenced. Have a wonderful time, stay safe. Good news from hooterville, SDHS enjoyed their first season win opener in many years in football Friday night. Yahoo!!! Andy is rapidly gaining tennis skills playing almost every day. He'll be buff and fit when you return. Pepper the wonder dog continues to improve, he got a good report from the vet yesterday and stitches taken out. He has decided that Jail is an OK place to be if it an air conditioned jail. Dave is lost without you guys so hurry back. The Em girl attended her first middle school dance, I'll try to send pics later. Her clarinet practicing makes the dog howl so I'm enjoying quite the serenade in the house lately. Moose and squirrel bring back a pic that I can turn into a painting, sounds like you are in some beautiful places. Later, have fun and be safe. Vingo and company
Elk Antler Circle I don't know the origin of the Elk Antler circle, but I think this is proof positive that the Elk Aliens are behind the mysterious crop circles.
Ancient Mystery Uncovered You've discovered the mysterious prehistoric monument of the American West - "Bonehenge." It's origins are actually unknown, but some attribute it's formation to a moon worshipping cult of antler possessing animals from the neolithic era.
Thinking of you Hey guys...glad to hear you are having a good time and experiencing more than the highway and the Bates motel. My kids are collecting postcards (mom sent them several from their trip out west, which, by the way they cut short by one week for reasons we won't go into here) so drop us one occassionally if you get a chance. By the way, in answer to your previous question Susan, I haven't heard anything more but am not giving up hope. We are one month into our fast from TV and I have to say it has been the best month I have had in years...no kidding.
What a Sunset! The Bates Motel may have been scary, but what a sunset; gorgeous! We saw Bear today and wished him well on his way to you. He "bears" our greetings for you. Have a great time; wish we were with you. However, hiking would be difficult for us at this time - for me since I'm a lazy non-hike and for Mark since he went under the knife today. However, other than the giant cartoon bandage on his knee, he seems pretty normal. Thanks for the crutches, though; they are getting some use.
what a trip! Hey there Moose and Squirrel...been reading faithfully and good to be able to "come along" on your adventure in a way. ( : I am glad you are not in Gene's league of going off trail cause I want to see you guys again. More later! Lori
jealous I'm busy stamping out ignorance in East Tennessee, and there's lots of it. I'm feeling jealous....angry.... why can't I have a travel name? Why can't my honda have a travel name? I may take my frustrations out on Iris.
Quit our jobs to travel the Northwest. Hitting most of the National Parks on our adventure. Three Months. Two people. One car. A lot of chocolate and a lot of beer (not together). Not coming home until we see a real Moose.... full info
