Wow. It sounds like you both had an amazing trip! The pictures are beautiful. I am interested in hearing your thoughts on what it was like to see a "room full of Jackson Pollack's work" and then see the statue of David or something by Botticelli. I know they are two totally different types of art- but are they even comparible in any way?
Otzi Ben would be so thrilled to hear about your visit to see Otzi. We recently watched a documentary about him and he was fascinated. He's been trying to make arrowheads ever since and still keeps talking about what caused Otzi's ultimate demise. Hope you took pictures. I'm glad you're having a great trip. It sounds wonderful.
Alps I hve to concur with you about the Alps having seen them in Switzerland and France they are simply spectacular. The rockies are great but the Alps are breathtaking. Reading the blog brings the memories flooding back. THANKS!!!
Miss you,
Joe
Is there still time for me to join you? It all sounds wonderful! Wish we were there taking it all in with you. Is Dave updating you on the brackets? He's kicking everyone's butt, but then he's keeping score. Hmmmmmm......
getting caught up Have caught up on blog reads now. Windie, my maternal grandmother always called me monkey...could we be distantly related? I don't think I have Italian heritage...although I do talk with my hands. The hikes, the food, and the farms sound fab! I imagine the countryside is just beautiful. Is all the pasta freshly made prior to serving? I wish you could see bearing fruit trees there, but I am sure it is too early. Gotta go get organized.--Rachel
Tired in and (of) Tennessee Okay, enough with the stupendous art, wonderful food, beautiful countryside. Seriously, sounds like a trip of a lifetime. Say hello to Michelangelo, Bernini, Da Vinci, and Titian for me. The girl child and I travel to the far country of Asheville, N.C. for the weekend with 10 (count them - 10) junior highers. Now don't tell me we don't know how to have fun. We do rejoice at the advent of spring break next week. Bring back some Genoa salami, a fav of the guys in the house. If I am not mistaken, there is a footprint of Christ set in stone in the cemetary at San Lorenzo?? Good to hear from ya, Vinsonio the tired
Snowing all over the world We thought we would tanut you with the fact that it has snowed here twice since you left. However, it sounds like what you saw was gorgeous. Besides our snow was puny - AND IT WASN'T IN ITALY! I must learn more about the "monkey" people. If this is a common event that you experience while there, this will be a sign that Mark and I must travel to Italy. It sounds like you're having a wonderful time. I'm so glad - although a wee bit jealous!
Sounds Wonderful... Glorious...to be envied...beautiful! Glad you are having such a great experience though it might make it hard to come back home. When are you coming home? We'll be in E. TN at the end of the month and would love to see you if you are back by then.
So good to hear from you guys! Life is Beautiful! What a wonderful experience. I am looking forward to following along on your trip through Italia! Susan, as a girl growing up somehow I did get to shovel poop and do all the work outside, but even then I thought...well, I get to be outside! and it beats dishes. Jim, I could just see you two there with the tea and the good conversation. Congrats on making this trip and time in your lives happen for you. A dream made true! Enjoy! Enjoy-Lori
Tutti Italiano Ciao Ya'll,
Glad you survived Roma and now off to WOOF like good Tennesseeans! Glad you got to see the small collection of art that the Pope owns, and Parthanon. Enjoy the farmland of Umbria, and eat lots of porcetta and pasta!! Love, Moonbeam
Viva Gelato! As it's been said, when in Rome, do as those pesky Romans do. And apparently they (or their descendants) eat tons of gelato! Now wouldn't the world be a better place if we all ate some gelato every day? VIVA GELATO! P.S. Hail to the Mighty Silverchin, who could crush the tiny Italian lift in his bare hands!!!
Wish we were there Sounds like you're having a wonderful time; wish we were there with you to explore the towns, take in the history, and enjoy the pasta, limoncello, gelato, and espresso - yum! I just returned from LA last night which was not nearly so interesting (but was ok). I look forward to hearing more and seeing pics!
Could you do a little more Sounds great can't wait to see pictures. Reading what you have done reminds me of an Alan and Joe vacation non stop take it all in. I'm jealous but so glad that your getting to do this Miss you!!!!
Joe

disqualified Due to my sense of responsibility I must disqualify myself for this answer, however I'd like to win a prize for best made up answer:
"Weirdos Wandering On Overseas Fields." Well, whaddya think? Wish we were going to Italy...maybe we should fly over to celebrate being homeless, with the couple who are jobless. :)
Have a great trip. We want to hear every detail!!
Send my prize directly to the internet World Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms
Although I understand this is a code name for "Forced Sex Slavery Enclaves", FSSEing
Whoofing Isn't "wwoofing" some sort of strange euphemism for sex? That being said, if you are only planning on "wwoofing" twice in 6 weeks, then I certainly hope it means something else.....
wit-less answer Just to prove that I was paying attention the last time I saw you(and to affirm that we must have chatted long before that last batch of martini's kicked in), I submit that wwoofing is "willing workers on organic farms"
have great trip...can't wait to follow thw blog!!
Italy! Wowza! I have always wanted to go! Will want to hear all about it! Maybe for work you can put on plays as Squirrel and Moose traveling about the country? Would anyone feed you organic food for preformances? Throw you nuts! Call you nuts! Anyway, have a great time! NYC will be fun too. Miss you guys. We've been out of pocket but not out of country! Love, Lori
Quit our jobs to travel the Northwest. Hitting most of the National Parks on our adventure. Three Months. Two people. One car. A lot of chocolate and a lot of beer (not together). Not coming home until we see a real Moose.... full info
