My favorite is struggling ninja and the give up shot! Haha I wonder what people must feel about of us dressing up as ninjas, going around town, and taking amazing photos. That's right - envy!
Love the engrish - We produce what you crying for!
Great pictures of Aso-san! Looking at these now makes me remember how fun it was driving up through the mountain and stopping near the top freezing just to take photos of us in ridiculous jumping positions. Oh it was so much fun! Here's to more future road trips!
All it takes is for someone to read through your blog entires one time to fully understand the essense of Japan - flowers, bowing, and little lanterns in the background! Yep, sounds about right!
Cute picture of you and Christine with the flowers...makes me wonder what hokkaido will have in store for us this summer...With any luck we'll be able to see some flower fields!
PS nice commentary on the 7th inning stretch haha...
Oshiri Kajiri Mushi Haha I enjoyed bringing you into the world of heavy weight wedgies! Come next spring we can go back to Osaka and cheer on our boys! Oh, and it wouldn't hurt if you were a little nicer to the goofy energetic guy - he has feelings too!
I agree - I like the lighting, too. It was a great show. I look forward to the next encounter with the mountain boys. Keep on rocking the wadaiko - just make sure to avoid the taikobara!
Late! Better late than never, eh? Actually, you turn the cup two times to the right before you drink and two times to the left after you drink!
Mr. Matsuoka would be very angry! Actually, I saw him yesterday at his workplace. I could go for some o that Roast Beef again!
Thanks for letting me eat all of those wonderful sweets! Skittles mmmmm how I miss thee! Though, you know it feels like even the slightest bit of sugar is enough to destroy your teeth...poo Japanese diet!

Hi, I'm a JET living in Hokkaido, but I used to live in Wakayama(Iwade-cho, now Iwade-shi). I so sorry to hear about the sudden loss of your friend and colleague. I think it is great how you have given a great memorial to Ben despite the sadness. I hope you continue to make wonderful memories during your time in Japan. Good luck on translating. Jesi in Sapporo
Wow! I knew that Japan, along with Norway and a few other nations, is more famous for whaling as in whale-hunting than whale-watching. I think the UN imposed a whale-hunting moratorium a decade or so, except for cases of scientific research. Of course.
Thank you from a Gunma JET Thank you so much for posting this letter. The rumors had reached Gunma and I just received news in the CLAIR newsletter today. I will spread the truth about this incident during our next ALT monthly meeting. Also I will say a prayer for everyone involved.
Sincerely,
Alison
Well said... Vanessa,
As hard as this has been for everyone this past week and a half, I think we have a lot to be extremely thankful for. We have a great supporting cast here in Wakayama through our PAs, CIRs, and of course the ALTs. Everyone has really come together through all the sadness and I feel that everyone has done a fantastic job of comforting each other.
Of course we will always think of Ben and I will also be thinking of him while we attend the Yuki Matsuri. Luckily, we have memories of Ben such as the time he jumped off that huge rock before anyone else or all of his jokes and laughter at the parties. Well said Vanessa.

I read every word you wrote. Hi! I am Zach's grandmother. Nice to meet you. It is a good thing to be a good friend. We all need people who will defend us and believe in us. Thank you for sharing. G-ma
