Art in Munich
We encourage good healthy discussions. Pleased you picked up on it. Like to see people really reading our blogs and not just looking at the pretty pictures.

Excusing you because of your red number plates
Those red number plates have the opposite effect in Romania so do not stray there with any ideas of immunity!!!

Deviation to Romania?
Just as well we don't have time to follow the Danube from source to its mouth. Perhaps another time we'll enter Romania, then we'll pick up some local plates while parked in a carpark.

Takes us back to 2013
The area is where we stayed in 2013 after coming through the Mont Blanc tunnel.Actualy stayed in Chombloux(think that is the way it is spelt)We decided we could never tire of the scenery and reminded us of Queenstown

More Zigzagging to come
Just arrived at our next destination - Besancon. Drove up and over the Jura Mountains. Wait for the blog. We wondered what would happen if we went through the Mont Blanc tunnel. Perhaps a night in Turin with a panic call to the hotel in Annecy about our room full of luggage, groceries and utensils.

Thanks for your interest
Glad you are enjoying the blogs. We find it helpful to have this travel record and be able to get back to a little of what we experience as we go. Those bulbs will be happy to be underground. Keep warm. Our very best wishes to you both. Marilyn and Chris

Beaune
Was the gaily painted merry-go-round still in the main square? We are returning for a traditional dinner out in a street side restaurant/café in the square in 2016,something we didn't do in 2013

Merry - go - rounds?
Seen so many in so many towns we can't quite remember. Will need to check our picks. Found a secret location today - Cluny.

Your abode
Your abode looks very much like the one we had on the coast south of St Nazaire at a camping ground.Perhaps there is a one size fits all in France.Do you have to perch the ipad on top of the fridge and then stand on a chair to operate it like we did with the laptop?

The tiny chateau in the woods
We have seen a whole lot of these places lined up in a yard outside Rennes. Our model is a Pacifique class establishment. We have reasonable Internet but only one can use it at a time, mainly my tablet, but Marilyn had her turn first. Until last night we had no neighbours anywhere. Then about 5 groups of French people arrived who all knew each other - oh boy did they talk. Temps up to 34 yesterday - cold beers from the fridge. Love to see how our large French neighbours use the tiny toilet. Perhaps they do it the French way - in public. Another hot one today. Talk about extremes - 12 to 18 and suddenly over 30. Who's complaining.

So nice torelive with you some of the places I visited many years ago. Most impressed by the light raila in Angers. Auckland could do well with this at a huge cost. Thank you. Take care !!

You have purchased a microwave ! ?

Microwave? Us?
No need to purchase such mod cons. Our current accommodation comes fully equipped. Thought you were going to ask if we had bought a fridge. Our only purchase is a cheap electric jug. Wonderful.

German cemeteries on 'foreign soil'
The photo you took at La Cambe looks hauntingly like ones we have taken at German cemeteries in northern France and Crete. To us they have a more foreboding appearance than where the Allies are buried.
26th May 2015

German cemeteries
Perhaps the organization that administers the cemeteries is quite differently funded to that of the Allies. I would imagine the US contributes vast sums as does the Commonwealth. We think the German organization is privately funded. The dark crosses and plaques are quite different to the white crosses and headstones. On this day the mist had just lifted so the atmosphere was even more foreboding.

All going well it seems, so we hope for good weather for you ! Off to Gnoems this pm - open discussions !! Take care
