Flathead Lake is located between Polson and Kalispell Montana. Nestled within tree covered mountains the lake has a bed of colorful rocks and is full of the clearest refreshing water. Wonderful to swim in and can walk a long distance out without going to deep. It is a very family friendly location so there is always the sounds of children playing in the water. The temperature has been around 90. My campspace has trees for shade and is lake front so i can frequently take little dips to cool off. There isn't much of a breeze, everything is calm and quiet. (Just as a little kid swimming by blows bubbles like a boat!) Polson is popular for their cherries which are in season now. Lucky me! Little stands line the roads in every direction offering the ... read more

Day one is completed, not much to report yet. Don and I arrived in Seattle about 1/2 and hour behind schedule. He met up with his friends to begin his journey of hiking a section of the PCT then his bicycle route from WA to FL. I took of on my own heading east on I90. Much like Oregon, Washington's terrain changed once I went over the mountains. My destination campsite was closed due to wildfires but luckily the small little town of Vantage, WA offered a nice campsite in town. The check-in processes was so sumple, it was confusing. One super woman ran the store, hotel, post office and campground! ? I did a full tent set yp just for more practice. Everything worked out well. Ienjoyed a nice salad, smoked salmon dip and ritz ... read more

The first overnight, local, dry camp trip was a hit! I love my large tent that connects to the back of the car. The first attempt at set up was a fail and I was second guessing my tent choice. Each time I set up and tear down, I am getting better and better at it. About my favorite little things: #1 easily is the LuminAid Titan 2-in-1 solar lantern. Don and I are both taking this one of these plus I have an extra basic LuminAid lantern which is more lightweight but does not charge other devices. These are great for any household during power outages, on the boat, in the camper, hikers and bikers. #2 is the REI toiletry bag. Organization is the key to happiness for an OCD woman. Keeping all cooking, food, ... read more

It has been a busy couple of months as I am learning more and more about the websites, mapping options etc., to plan my road trip. Reviewing the gear I will need for car camping, hiking, backpack camping, and who knows what else that comes my way has been a lot of fun. Luckily there are many solo women on the roads since Covid that have made blogs public that I have learned so much from. REI stocks should be up with the amount of gear I have purchased for this adventure. First was my tent, housing is very important. Although I plan on sleeping in my car most of the time, I do want to have a small tent for backpacking into remote locations and a larger tent next to my car for a bug ... read more
