The love affair
For me the love affair began in Beijing...walking around the Forbidden City in a blizzard. For those that have experienced a love of China, Guangxi Provence among the karst mountains is a bridal bouquet. Thanks for sharing Meryl.

Blizzard?
Not so sure I would start a love affair in a blizzard ...but each to his own! China certainly has varied experiences to offer.

Reflections...
I love hearing people's post-trip reflective thoughts. I especially love your reflections on the Vietnamese food! I think we have to re-visit soon, if only to try the Vietnamese version of hotpot :) p.s Love the new profile photo

p.s.
About time I changed the photo! This is here and now in our temporary home in the Yulong valley, Guangxi.

Reflections
Thanks guys. Vietnamese food is pretty spectacular and I probably didn't emphasise it enough. You still have to be careful with water, washing etc. but mostly we had no issues with eating on street corners. I always seem to pick up something or the other but that's my delicate constitution!

How beautiful!
Ba Tu Long Bay seems like a winner (over Halong Bay), and Cat Ba island seems like a very appealing option too. Happy to hear you are enjoying all that lovely seafood :)

Serenity

Halong Bay
You have given plenty of reasons to visit Halong Bay, Mert. Serenity is top of the list...and I don't object to eating well too!

Karst
Well we are now amongst many more thousand mountains in Yangshou, China. Serious amount of Chinese tourists but still quiet compared to the rest of the year!

Adventures in water...
Writing this from a crisp and toast Tasmania, we could do with a little of that rain! I once melted the soles of my rain sodden hiking boots by leaving it too close to the fire overnight - but the insides were nice and dry :)

Laces
Picked up a spare lace in a cave in Mai Chau, washed it with the laundry and now all is good - until the shoe actually falls apart!
