Thursday, November 22, 2007, Thanksgiving Day On the road again, with my children in Elan’s car again. Not getting to drive again…. And so we are back again on a road trip to Fairbanks to celebrate Thanksgiving with Jim, Kathy & John. We planned on leaving at 7 or 8 this morning but it did not happen till 9AM. I think that while at one time driving to Fairbanks was 7 or 8 hours now it is less time. Elan was mentioning that the trip seemed much longer as a kid. He needed his pillow, blankets, books, cd’s, walkman and his teddy bear. Now we just hop in the car and we are off. Molly of course still has Sugar Plum who is a world traveler. Checked the road conditions and the road was supposed to ... read more

August 7, 2007 With the blog back up and I think mostly accounted for here are some new pictures of last weeks class along with our field trip to the Blue Hills Observatory near Boston, and other pics around Boston. Today Molly & I signed up to be hair models! This meant we went to a fancy shmancy hair salon on Newbury and paid a pittance for them to practice on our hair. The style they were learning was the Bob, but a contemporary one not a classic one. So it is angled towards the front, Molly’s more than mine. She did not want us to end up with the same haircut but they are very similar. I guess in the big cities one can sign up to be a hair model and get a decent ... read more

Saturday, August 4, 2007 I guess the time went by and I did not update this too regularly, now I leave in 5 days! So Molly and I went to camp and had an absolute blast. We headed to Elizabeth’s first and spent the night there with her and as always had a great visit. Thursday we drove to camp. Tod & Nancy were to meet us at 3:30 at the landing. We did our usual shopping and got to the landing and waited a bit. George Jr. was there too and they were putting new boat cleats on the docks. Alicia and her kids and grandkid were there swimming. Molly got in too to swim. We knew Jimmy was to arrive too sometime but not sure when, sure enough when we were already to take ... read more

Saturday, July 21 2007 Molly & I spent a lovely morning with her friend from college, Natalia. Molly & I had bought some malawach at the Israeli market and so we took it to Natalia’s to make there. Natalia made some wonderful Arabic coffee for us. Notice Natalia’s beautiful living room, she has such good taste in colors! ☺ Molly’s off to work at Bluestone-Pizza/MiddleEastern food now while I putter around and plan to go to bed early. Molly’s Thoughts I think I look to much like my brother….it’s a tad bit scary. Yes I understand we’re related and all, but still its scary. Ok so how does this relate to a travel blog? Well I saw pictures of him on this and pictures of me and well one thought led to another and I decided ... read more

Anchorage to Detroit to Boston Tuesday, July 17, 2007 Elan dropped me off at the airport and I headed in around 5:30. Check-in was not too bad but the line to go through security was rather long and tedious. They had one detector open and the TSA man was taking a very long time to check and ask questions. Then we had to show the man who was guiding people through the metal detector our boarding passes again. Got to my gate with plenty of time and waited to board. The Northwest Airlines plane was full they told us; boarding was done though with an all call for all rows to board at once! Of course this took forever. I had a middle seat-ugh! The worst part was the man in the aisle seat who was ... read more

Our whole trip!Mem Da Thursday, July 12, 2007 We both slept amazingly well in the car last night, it was a little hot in the morning but not bad, we got up at 9:30AM! Went to the café to have breakfast and saw a motorcycle rider that we’d talked to back on the road a day or so ago. Chatted with him a bit, he’s headed to Fairbanks and Top of the Road highway. We ate a good breakfast and then took off. The road is very good, some loose gravel, some construction in a few places but not bad at all. We got to see more Stone sheep on the road again; our motorcycle friend was in the same place taking photos too. Then we headed towards Liard hot springs. We thought to stop and ... read more

We are staying in a B&B just east of Chetwynd, BC. Found it when we were in Prince George and Elan wanted to stay in a Super 8, they have breakfast included, but the Super 8 was filled up in Dawson Creek. If you ever travel to William’s Lake be sure to stop and see the visitor center! It is one amazing building, an enormous log cabin. Anyway, we stopped in the visitor center in Prince George and while the building was unimpressive the insides and the people again were most helpful. They helped us find this B&B. It is called, Polly’s Ranch B&B, 30K east of Chetwynd, 1.6K off highway 97. They have a couple of horses, 4 cows/steers, a Golden retriever and best of all: a Bernese Mountain dog!!! The retriever, Kobi, is ... read more

Vancouver to ?Mem DaDay Ten, Saturday, July 7, 2007 Happy Birthday Susan! ------Thoughts with Elan------- Here we are sitting in line waiting at customs. I find it very amusing that folks sound their horn when the distance grows more than 5 feet. Bunch of impatient dorks. I hate them all. Speaking of funny things, we are watching the folks in the car in front of us. They are trying to change out their CD changer in the trunk and the passenger can’t quite seem to figure it out. Poor guy. Makes for a funny show for us though so I suppose it’s not all bad. DANCE MONKEYS DANCE! Not much else really going on, called my Aunt Susan to wish her a happy birthday over the phone. We dropped by… NEWS FLASH We break this standard ... read more

Map from Tigard to Seattle Mem Da On our way to Wolf Haven… rode up the coast towards Tenino. Stopped in Seaside for breakfast. Had a scare that something was leaking from the bottom of the car but turned out to be nothing. Elan says there is something about Oregon that makes one want to drive slowly, it’s in the water he says, though, he has not drank too much Oregon water. Today is the first day since we left that there is no sun. It is grey and overcast with a few sprinkles but not the rain that we left in OK. I think it would be quite fun to rent a beach side house with a group of friends! One could go swimming, boating, having a kumzitz on the beach. (bonfire) We have a ... read more
