Mary what a wonderful trip you have had It was very interesting to read all you did in a week. Now you will have no problem using Dads car when you look after Bella in April!!! Hope to catch with y you sometime though I suppose it will be back to work soon Love Sheila
Letting that annoying work thing rest Good idea! Fantastic that you found something unique to do with your time off.... and we won't tell that you lost and found the data notes. The universe was smiling on you! Love to hear more about Oman.
Bucharest, Paris of the east Your descriptions sound delightful. The palace provided you all the glitter you could handle and off to the beer wagon was a perfect ending. So many cheeses, so little time.
Thanks My son is likely to visit Bucharest on a business tour. This prompted me to read something on Romania. In the process I stumbled across this wonderful blog. Needless to mention that I read almost all your blogs too !
Volunteering again Good for you for picking some great locations. Mongolia is on my short list so I truly enjoyed reading this one. Great stuff. Will continue to follow along. MJ
That dang work stuff again Great to see you blogging again. I could hear those islands calling you. Being a nurse I loved hearing local cures. We love train travel. Sounds like a great trip. We need to add Sri Lanka to our list.
Memories ... Thank you for the trip down memory lane. We (husband, daughter and myself) were there this time last year and loved our time there. The Burmese people were so friendly and welcoming. Thankfully, we didn't have 40 deg heat but, still hot and humid enough in the 30's so, sightseeing in the morning and later afternoon, was the go. Loved our week's cruise by riverboat along the Irrawaddy. Didn't quite manage to visit every one of the 1300 or so pagodas/stupas in Bagan even though, at times, it did feel like it in the heat and humidity. :) Like you, we too missed out on the balloon ride, as a wind-storm came through overnight so, all the balloons were grounded next morning. Did climb the pagoda though (with the hundreds of others) for the sunset experience. :) Jan
Mary what a wonderful days you had in Hong Kong . The photos were fantastic and I wonder what Brian would think of Happy Valley my goodness it has all changed since I was there. I look forward to the section of your trip. See you soon love Sheila. I don't what has happen but part of the hong kong comment has come up. Well I have enjoyed reading your next part of your adventure and look forward to the next instalment, you will never complain about the tempertures here, your photos are amazing but I was sorry not to see one of you with an umbrella love Sheila
First Class Nice way to start your travels. I would have enjoyed hearing you sing Total Eclipse of the Heart...one of my favorites. I'll bet you did it justice. You need to publish a food blog of the essential things to eat in Hong Kong. I'd buy it. Sounds like a great trip and a great wedding.
Mary what a wonderful two weeks that must have been, I have loved reading all about it and your photos were excellent what an adventure you are going to have a hard time to follow this. Look forward to your next trip which mum says is about to begin.
American Costa Rica Yes the Americans discovered Costa Rica more than 20 years ago and sadly in my opinion have ruined the ambiance. But Costa Rica allowed it so who am I to judge. Sorry your adventures were less than you hoped. That is the tough part of travel. Things don't always go as advertised....glad you hung in there with a good attitude.
Brrrr! Wow, this looks like a cool trip! (See what I did there?)
Very jealous that you got to see the Northern Lights, and with a personal message.
How are you anyway, I've heard the news re work ... you have to give me the full story at some point, maybe over a G&T?
If only I was younger Mary what a wonderful trip you have just had.I can imagine mum and dad's face if you waltzed in with a husky puppy not to merntion what Bella would say. Where to next?
All things snowy! What great adventures and so many different activities! With so much snow, it really does seem like an incredibly beautiful alien world. Fab that you got to see the Northern Lights--a proper reward for braving such cold temperatures. And yes, go for that 5-day husky safari!
Loved your story....good analogy to romancing the stone. I could visualize your muddy trek. After reading your blog (which I've enjoyed greatly) I won't be taking that trek. The cage of death might have done me in. Years ago we took a short trek in Malaysia in the heat and humidity that came to mind after your descriptions. We had a great time but doubt I would sign up to do it a second time. Glad you can look back and enjoy your journey...and indeed that is what is it about. The wedding sounded wild.
