more inspriation guys thats a brilliant blog to read, i was looking at doing the trek myself and now you've inspired me to do it and hopefully soon.
great pictures too
Byeee! Have really really enjoyed your blogs team - you've given us a fascinating insight into the places you've been and maintained an excellent standard of wit throughout!!! Can't wait to see you both soon. Have safe journey home. XXX
After reading your travel blog on Tuesday it wa a delight to see the town of Pokhara again that night on TV3 showing a programme on the smallest people in the world. Khagendra Thapa Magar although born in Baglung now lives in Pokhara. Born in 1992 he measures 60cm and enjoys dancing. he is nicknamed the 'Little Buddha'. They showed almost the exact same images of the boats by the lake. And now its India!
Time almost up! I couldn't agree with you more Mark! When our internet connection was down here in January and February and I couldn't hear about all the goings on from down under I felt really deprived.Just the thought of not hearing about different peoples, customs and places would depress one. Still maybe you will set off again to some other part of the world we have not heard much about in the not too distant future! Yes - look forward to your next maybe last blog. Will it mention being back on the ould sod again. Slan go foill. Roll on Saturday.
Absolutely hilarious blog guys. How funny are those pictures of the elephants squirting yee?
As for that ladyboy, he looks awfully familiar to one we had dancing for us in Turkey a few years ago!
Can't wait to see you soon

It can't get much better! Kate and Mark- congratulations-such a great achievement - such great photos and recording of your personal Everest adventure- loved looking and reading- after this YOU CAN DO ANYTHING!
Wow! Amazing stuff guys. Truly inspiring and kinda kicks my half marathon ass!! My only concern is 9 days in the same leggings!!!! Kate, I thought I'd never see the day. Topshop will welcome you home with open arms!!
Dion an Domhain Comghairdeas dhibh! This last few months we have read of your travels from the 'down under' as we know it to where you are now the 'roof of the world'. And you have done it in style. These last few weeks as you have made your journey I have studied other Everest blogs and gone on the Everest website and know those names by heart : Namche, Dingboche, Kala Patter. You have brought that almost unknown part of the world into our classroom here in Cavan. Found this quote from Mark Twain recently. "Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from safe harbour. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover". I don't think Mark Twain would be too disappointed with you.
Congratulations! Cool, I'd been looking forward to this one for....well....pretty much 8 months and it didn't disappoint! Loving the photos (ah Ama Dablam....) and the various mental characters you met on the way (the boarding-card-shade-deciphering man being my personal favourite). I'll see you back at Everett Space Camp for the 2012 McMullen-McGovern summit attempt. Enjoy the rest of your time in Nepal
The long, long slog home Awesome entry, guys. Just awesome. Best entry ever.
I now want to go and check out the big E for myself.
Hope you're having a great time on the beach in Goa - can't believe it's all over already
'Breathtaking, unbelieveable, spectacular....' Mark, maybe it's only the way I read it, but I get the vague impression that you enjoyed yourself in Hong Kong!!
grandtourismo Well Kate you exemplify that old saying 'mane cavan bas....' Well done on your expansive white golden too much sea sun and sand tour of the coastline. Like you even I was getting a little bored with the monotony of it all and do look forward to the colder and harsher climate of Nepal. And of course the challenges that come with it. There have been a few tv programmes recently about Everest so it will be interesting to see it close
Whitsundays A very interesting title to put on a set of islands if Im right in thinking. Whit is Spirit inspired as in only God created and it is obvious that for much of the time that it is only God that lives there. I looks magical. Glad you had some mad teachers to keep youu company there. As you bask in the sunshine the photos show how warm it is. Here we have the sun too but its woolies all round because of low temperatures, snow and hailstones so enjoy the real sun and warmth out there cos we're saying here that next month you will be home in cold cavan.
Well done indeed to you Kate for putting loud mouthed bullies in their place. Sounds like she fitted right in such a rip off place. Still enjoyed your run up the Great Ocean Road. Great photography as usual though I was greatly impressed with the views of Gibson's Beach. I would certainly love to see it myself. Im told over here that some of the !2 Apostles have disappeared into the sea.
Great to join you again at the bottom of the world as you ponder the delights of Bondi, Coogee and other places of notoriety. Only thing new is Mark's haircut because you both are continuing to have a whale of a time. Even your stint working the farm in the outback seems to have been most enjoyable. I look forward to reading the next input as I am on catch-up
I am impressed by your restraint on the shopping front Kate! Hope you celebrate Paddy's Day in style over there. Can't believe it's been 2 years since the Edinburgh pubcrawl marathon! xx
Ref. Yummy Burgers For skinny girls you and Sarah can sure stuff your faces Kate! Loving your stories and photos each time- and v reassuring for me to see that Sarah is neither hungry nor stressed in her firsr week as a student in Melbourne! Try Whitehaven Beach on Whitsundays if you get a chance. Happy onward trekking to both of you- Morna
Hookers(!) & props..... God Mark...I hope you meant 'scrum' on the third line or else you are in for a tough time in India!! We're all mad jealous here looking at those fab photos, while the rain lashes us.....
Kate what IS your sudden obsession with strip clubs? How are you going to cope when you're on the Everest trek? I'm half expecting you two to show up in the background on the beach in Home and Away this evening...
