Yet another adventure!
Looks like you're making full use of your time there! Did you feel unsafe at any point in the guide's vehicle, when inside the dangerous animals' areas? I would think no, but you tell us! Keep on enjoying your last few days in SA!

Photos
Enjoyed the photos. A lot of the "stuff" in the restaurant could have come from here !! I would have had a ball!! Those copper pots looked great. As for the roads..... Scary..... Reminded me of our drives in Equador and Peru with different scrub and greenery... Or lack of. I do not know how you will preserve all these photos, but that' s for another time and discussion.

Enthusiasm is contagious
Margaret, this is fabulous! Wow. Nilssen sounds amazing. I wonder if my young cousin Simon Hoyte, who is working in SA in archaeology, knows him? I would imagine so. When you describe Nilssen's enthusiasm it reminded me of Simon's and suggests a source for the latter's, so evident in his own writing which I have been following. You can read it here: https://simonhoyte.wordpress.com/ Thanks soooo much for sharing!

Did you see the video of yesterday's session at the Elephant Sanctuary at the Crags in Plettenberg Bay? Ellies, very close up and personal:)

Not Too many Ellie pics!?
I thought I'd give the other animals a chance lol so cut down the elephant photos for this post. I LOVE them, they are delightful. I'm going to another elephant reserve near here on Wednesday where I can touch them and walk, trunk in hand! Sounds special to me. But Ellie photos are throughout the Addo pages. I'm going to put up a couple little videos too.... Just that that has to be done via uploading to YouTube first so it's a long process.

roads and more roads!
I never see more picture of good roads so! I can understand though at that pace how difficult it would be to focus on anything else. Thoroughly enjoying the read..there is a book in there somewhere! Looking forward to the discussions on race relations ..we all have preconceived notions about what it might be like so it will be good to hear your views. How is Judy? Is she keeping up with your pace? Happy anticipation for the the next few posts...stay well and keep enjoying..

Road trip photos
Mags, these photos are beautiful. You have a wonderful eye. Not so easy to catch the beauty of landscapes in these muted colours (compared to the lush green and bright and deep blues we are accustomed to at home), but they are truly gorgeous.

The good, the bad...
...and the beautiful. I sure agree it must have been an unforgettable experience. Love the posts and the photos / videos. Keep 'em coming! And I'm sure in a few hours you'll be once again enjoying every minute of your journey, this time with the ellies...and the rest of the Big Five! Man, I sure wish I could tele-transport to that one, LOL. Enjoy, enjoy, and keep on enjoying, Margariiiitaaa! Will be checking the live feed and hoping you'll wave as you promised :-) xxx PS Did you finally hear the lions roaring in your sleep? :-)

Loved the waddle when he was walking quick :-)

Margs, girl, what an experience! It must all be simply breathtaking to see on site.... Thank you for such wonderful photos that offer us all a glimpse of such exquisite beauty. So glad they protect this site so well, in spite of the concerts and other events. But at least they erect barricades and watch over, so that is good. Keep on enjoying this great trip. We miss you, but are also so happy for you :-) xx

Gardens
I would have enjoyed that outing - especially if I did not have to walk!! Would have especially liked to see the owls.... I love owls too (and penguins!) Remember that many concerts and plays are held in gardens in the U.K. during the summer - Hyde Park, Kew gardens. It is a perfect setting after a long hot day when the sun is setting and darkness drawing down. Try it is you can!
22nd February 2015

Yes you would have loved the gardens
I thought of you and Barbara and Mummy. All of you could have hopped on the buggy and enjoyed the beautiful sights and scents and the scenery
