Education We have a second home in Aigues-Vives and I have been fascinated to read the continuing saga of your local school. As a member of a Children's Services Authority (formerly LEA) for the last 17 years it has been most interesting to compare and contrast the two systems and outcomes. On the face of it our system is much more democratically accountable in that we, the County Council, together with governing bodies have much more say in the running of schools but when push comes to shove I suspect "authority" would normally win on either side of the chanel. However to give in would be defeatist so more power to your collective elbows and please keep us informed.
Luchon Thanks for the blog Margaret - it is very interesting to hear about Luchon after all we had heard when we were twinned with the town (I think its lapsed through lack of enthusiasm locally). The picture of the church reminds me of one I saw in Souillac when I was a teenager!!! So my memory might not be right.
Life here is very busy at the moment. Trying to plan what I will take to Palestine on the 15th then on top of that Natasha and family are coming to see us the weekend of 9th/10th/11th - all go. I have also realised that I usually make my christmas puds and mincemeat during half term - and this year I will be in Palestine so am going out today to get the ingredients and get on with it now. We don't come back until 29th so it will practically be November.
Trying to keep up the walking with Chris though its been a bit hit and miss lately due to one of us being away or busy.
love

bonjour Hi you lot - been in Australia for 7 weeks with my mum and had a fabulous time. My new partner joined us and he and Asher got along fine. Now back to work and the cold rainy days of England. Your news is great, your description of the market food and restaurants is really too good not to share in a published book - it's all pretty amazing stuff - photos and commentary are first rate...........hope I get to visit before you move house - is it likely to happen soon?
Love to you all
Yola and Asher x
Moving! Hi y'all and g'day from australia where Asher and I are having a 7 week break at my mum's home in Queensland. I can well understand the rationale behind the decision to move but I imagine it must have taken some soul searching? It looks wonderful and the locale seems perfect - sitting in the garden with fruit trees and watching the sun set sounds pretty hard to beat. Hope you are all keeping well, best wishes and love to you all from Yola's mum, Yola and Asher x
Fruity photos Hi Marg/Mal, Just read your last three bloggs,as always brilliant. Fenella reconds you should be a write, myself I'm looking forward to Chistmas (yumieeeeeeeee). Marg/Mal you sound like your really enjoying yourselves as we do your bloggs. Thankyou and all our love XXXX
Well, you won't have to! Thanks Caroline. I keep hoping we can meet when I'm in England. Are you around over Easter? You'll see from the posting you'll get the alert for any minute now that I'm maintaining the staus quo......
Well, I'd never have the nerve to try skiiing- raquettes or snow shoes is more than enough challenge for me. And no scary cliff tops to contend with, so height-fright not an option. Trust me, I'm dead scared of tops-of-church-tower type heights.
The views from your skiing is amazing. I would probably gotten height fright....I love the sound of snow cracking under my feet...
It is just amazing what nature can do itself..it looks like you had a wonderful day even if it was exhausting.
I have actually never tried skiing myself but I would love to ..
Not yet indeed...... .......... one day, the fridge will stay in one place FOR A WHOLE WEEK, I'll have more than half a worksurface, and the sink won't be a health hazard. But not yet
Margaret, as you well know already, your kitchen stories make me feel inadequate. I would long ago have thrown my dummy on the floor and stormed out kicking and screaming (mixing my metaphors as I went). One day you'll look back at these pictures and laugh ... but maybe not yet.
