Husband Mario and wife Malou crossed the atlantic ocean from Fort Lauderdale, Florida to Copenhagen, Denmark in May 2007 for 17 nights, travelled all over Europe using an old (1990) class c RV (called camper in Europe) for four months then to go back home decided to do the trans-atlantic cruise again, from Barcelona to Miami, Florida for 16 nights. This was a spur of the moment decision while enjoying a free wifi connection in Parma, Italy.
While googling I found a cheap, last minute transatlantic cruise. Right there and then, we booked the cruise and booked the flight from Miami to Vancouver online. This effectively put to waste my prior paid for bookings for flights for two from 1. Milan to London Gatwick and 2. London Gatwick to Vancouver.
Left home May 3, 2007 feeling excited, enthusiastic, tired but super charged with energy, got back home Oct. 22, 2007 feeling happy but depressed at the same time. Happy because I will be reunited with my three children who are young adults just barely learning to be independent when we left them on their own for the first time this long and depressed because I liked the vagabonding lifestyle we enjoyed in Europe and know I will miss it. The RVing lifestyle we experienced in Europe was like an escape from the real life, a vacation of a lifetime, a life totally free from the concerns and responsibilities we normal people face and have to deal with everyday.
On a lighter note, it was a phenomenal, exhilirating and most exciting 5 months and 3 weeks of our lives.
In 2007, Mario was 51 years old while Malou was 49. Both were born and raised in the Philippines. In 2001, Mar and Malou and three children, Marlon, Ryan and Charisse migrated to Canada. Between four and five years later, we changed citizenship from Filipinos to Canadians.
