a better name for those float thingies They're called mikoshi (palanquins). Pretty standard fair for a matsuri, as are the men in little to no clothing.
I'm jealous You are doing something I have dreamed about. I would kill to see the bamboo forrests. It reminds me of a Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon scene, I want to be there!! It's like your on a search for inner peace, how lovely. Anyway, I just wanted to thank you for including me in your travel log, I really enjoy seeing and reading about all your adventures. Have fun, and stay safe!
Take care,
Lindsey
Weridness! I remember hanging around that Kyoto station asking directions, what seems a life ago. Haven't thought of it since, and for some reason seeing it again feels....weird.
Dude, I'm so jealous about the geisha stuff!!!
I miss you and will email you later to update you on some goings on back Stateside.
Love you, brave pretty girl
How Great Alyssa, I think you are so brave. I'm jealous of all that you are getting to see. Just kidding. I would be scared to do that by myself. I LOVE ALL YOUR PHOTOS. Take care. I'm getting ready to call your mom.

Theresa

Sounds like you are having fun. Sucks being stuck with all those couples. Thanks for including me on the email update. The word vicarious comes to mind...
hey there kiddo Looks like you're doing fine and having fun! Good! SOME PEOPLE get all worried whenever they don't hear from you for a few days. But I said I'm sure you're fine and no news is good news, eh?
A friend named Rheanna wanted to know how you do what you do, so I sent her the blog addy and subscribed her. Hope that's cool witch yoo. She wants to go to Asia. A lot. Yup.
Noah says HI and is impressed with the traveling. He's in Cuba right now himself. You guys make me feel all uninteresting.
Still no headset but I'll get it soon. Oh, have you read any Haruki Murakami yet?
BIG HUGS FROM LALALAND
No koncho as of yet.. But I would like to thank you and Brent for warning me about it. I'm totally going to bring it up in kids training though!
Good to hear from you buddy! You know you've got a place to crash if you feel like coming back for a holiday. Miss you!
koncho!!! So, have you yet experience the #1 reason you headed to Japan? (It may have been a subconcious draw, but there none the less). I like your mom's anti tofu slogan. Take care of yourself.
Are you in the JET program or another one? I met this dude at a dinner thing yesterday who wants to teach in Japan and I told him I could get you two in contact. Is that cool with you? Shoot me an e-mail when/if you can and I'll forward it to him. Also I'll reply with those new house pics
Re: For Mom Nails on the blackboard, Lys---and I know that you know better! "who's girlfriend" !!!!! Other than that, thanx for the update. Between the phonecalls and your blog, I might actually get through this year without totally going gray!
And I can't believe you are asking a good ol' southern belle like me how to cook with tofu! Lard forever; tofu, never!
Happy trails from your ever-lovin' mom!
Flat I have a modern, more Western-style flat. So yes, you could fit in my place.
Outside however, you'd probably feel like you'd just landed on Lilliput.
Awesome place Man, it's soo much bigger than I thought it would be. Nice kitchen too. You might have to teach those girls a thing about Texas Cookin! Miss you!
Oh, my gosh you sound like you are breezing through Japan!! Your apartment is so nice, I would have expected something completely different! You are a brave girl - enjoy all your new experiences!
What's going on? Your flat looks like its tall enough even for me. I thought stuff was smaller in Japan. Tell everyone Konichi Wa for me and see how much a Hitori Hanso sword would cost.
