madre de dios Alyssa--it is trite to say, but true--you never cease to amaze us with your spirit of adventure and curiosity about the world you live in. We love you and very much appreciate you allowing us to share adventures and sights we will never be able to experience.
conqueringcontinents I hitchhiked through Latin America in the 70s, took six months, and went all the way down to Ushuaia. Your blog reminded me of the toughest part of the whole trip - hitchhiking around Lake Titicaca. I walked in the rain for about two hours, and what few cars there were, most of them didn't bother to stop. Then a car with two Belgians coming in the opposite direction stopped and gave me some candy, just to encourage me, I guess. By the time I reached Puno it was getting dark. I went to the local police station, and they were kind enough to put me up - it might have even been in a jail cell. Several years later, now married, Debbie and I spent a night voluntarily in a jail cell in Nouakchott, Mauritania. I wish you many more happy travelin' days. Eb
giggling at the title I'm jealous that you got to use "Titicaca" and "Copacabana" in the same blog entry. I giggle every time I say the words in my mind as I'm reading.
i'm giggling so since your mom's already viewed and commented on this entry i'm going to guess she's not going to read this comment. therefore i can say this: teehee, you said titi. heeheehee, caca. oh you dirty.
Music.. .at Krishnas place..wow, have had lessons the past 4 days, sad to leave...and your blog was really interesting. Would like to have such experience as you.
Missing you Much time has passed since we have heard from you. It is so wonderful to see that you are well and as beautiful as ever! I have a moment here to tell you that we --Browns-- are all well and moving along with too much dispatch as time is flying. Let us know when you are scheduled to be in Austin. I will save this and hopefully be able to e-m more at a future date. We love to read about your travels and adventures. We love you and hope to hear more and see you soon. ab-ck-pappy
you, irratable? No. Wait a minute, you get irritable like everyone else when you've been hiking up a slippery mountain for two days. I just don't see how that's possible. The pictures are amazing. I hope we can see more of them when you get back (I wanna see what Cory got too).
panda bear says hi the first thing i thought when i read this post was, "you owe me a new acorn. squeak squeak squeak, squeak, squeaker."
happy new year!
What a life! Sounds like you've figured out how to live this experience we call life. Good for you. I do miss seeing you and hope that at some point we'll get together in Austin...that's in Texas, not some far-off romantic place!
Anyway, have a great time and stay in touch!
Love Ruth
Ginger? Lovely photos. The photo listed as "Ginger (I think)" is actually a banana plant. The flower is paler than I've seen before, but is unmistakebly banana. In fact, the three yellowish finger- shaped things on the flower are the beginnings of bananas.
Thanks for the comment! I have Krishna's address:

We're desperately trying to get Krishna over to the States for some concerts/workshops/etc. It's proving to be a bit difficult though. But we're just so grateful to him and his family that we have to try!
Thanks again for the comment and good luck on any future travels!
So funny ! Hi,
We're a Franco-English couple, who happen to meet Krishna and family just before you guys !
Our daugter keeps talking to us about Krishna, that's to say how much she loved him !!! And we found out about your blog looking for the address of Krishna.
