clarify? Are you asking me a question? I didn't say anything about deaths. In our experience the violence is over estimated. Nobody even gave us a dirty look!
Braver than me. Hi, well we're home now. All went well. Roads were generally o.k. except for most of Costa Rica. Don't know why the richest country in Central America has the worst roads but then California's freeways are in pretty terrible shape too. You know we're broke!
Braver than me. You guys have got to be brave or crazy. I had a 34 foot motorhome in the U.S. and found it trying enough driving there. Brakes went out twice in Florida and thank the Lord I was towing a pick up truck behind and used the towed vehicles brakes to slow me down.
Having driven trucks and cars in Mexico, Costa Rica and now Panama, I wish you well.
You know about the R.V. Park in Santa Clara?
Also one before Boquete?
clarify? even the most ludicris estimates indicate maybe 3000 deaths not 20,000. and 3/4 of those were killed in rioting and looting by their countrymen, not the US troops.
I enjoyed your San Jose post. I have always wanted to go to there. My blog is looking for travel photos, stories, accommodation reviews, and food reviews. If you have the time and have some to share, email us at dirtyhippiesblog@gmail.com or check us out at dirty-hippies.blogspot.com
Continued fun on your travels,
Eric
Glad you made it Panama Hi guys! It is nice to see that you are in Panama! Hope you are having fun and find it worth the trip. Can't wait to see your pictures when you get to the end of the road.
Right now we are in El Salvador, heading north back to Mexico.
Take care!
Gracious Hosts I met Frank and Joyce in Sebastian, Florida, through a mutual friend. I had been thinking of retiring to Panama for quite a while. They had recently purchased their house in Balboa, then, and invited me to visit them in Sebastian. They were very gracious hosts and put me up for the night in their little guest cottage there.
Last May when I was in Panama to finalize my Pensionado visa I spent several days at their house in Balboa. Joyce was in the States, and though I know Frank missed her terribly, I think it also gave him the opportunity to revisit some of his favorite spots around the city that she might have been bored with.
Frank and I are in constant email contact on a daily basis. I can honestly say that I have never met more gracious hosts anywhere I've ever been and I count it as one of the blessings in my life to have met these wonderful people.

Thanks again,

Wish I was in Mexico! Marcia,
Just wanted to say hello. Looks like you guys are really having a ball; unlike us poor slobs that still have to work. I have enjoyed reading abou the things that you are doing and the pictures only make me want to be there! BTW...am in Sunnyvale this week and it is not that sunny with much rain and very cool!
Take care,
Charlie
Great Blog! We are thoroughly enjoying your adventure... love your attitude and your pictures! Your blog will be in the News on Yucatan Living next week, so look us up at http://www.yucatanliving.com
Your Travel Guide I enjoyed your recent posts and pictures. Very interesting. Even Mateo (Matthew) and Daniela (Dani) are travelling along with you via the blog!
Certainly you noticed the name of the ship in the Veracruz Harbor (Tomcar). Perhaps you've got another traveller along on your trip and he was just making his presence known. I suspect he's acting as your travel guide. But, where was he when you had to back up to get out of the narrow residential street?!?
Keep blogging! This is great! I'm thoroughly enjoying traveling vicariously through Mexico via blog much more so than visiting Alaska via e-mail! Keep writing, Marseea, and keep taking pictures, Raymondo!
We are embarking on a three month RV trip around Mexico and would like to share the experience with family, friends and anyone else who is interested in this fascinating country.... full info
