EXTREMELY long wait at the Border and even longer day of driving.... Well, I was wondering when this day would come....Jan.29th, we are all needing some space:) Our living in a very very small space 24/7 has hit everyone hard today....after 35 days not bad:):) We arrived late afternoon in San Martin de Los Andes in the Lake District of Argentina. We headed straight for the beach and went for a swim and then Helados (ice cream).....the cure to all! San Martin de Los Andes is a beautiful town surrounded by mountains. We had dinner and explored the town. As it was extremely busy we woke and got outta dodge:):)... read more

After the all day event of travelling on 3 different ferries from Caleta Gonzalo to Hornopiren and saying goodbye to our Chilean friends we made it to Puerto Varas late in the evening. Puerto Varas is situated on Lago Llanquihue with a picturesque view of snow capped Volcano Orsorno ( which we explored ) We got laundry done, found some reliable wifi and met some more new friends! Olivia's Blog Hi Everybody, I hope everyone is doing well, I miss you a lot. We are four weeks into our trip on an RV (we have named our RV the Deseado) Puerto Deseado is one of my favourite places so far because we went on an expedition. On the way to Isla Pinguino we saw Commerson and Austral Dolphins. The Commerson Dolphin is endangered and can only be found in Patagonia ( they look like mini Orcas) They were so close I touched one! When we arrived on the island we hiked around and saw Magellanic and Rockhopper Penguins, the reason that they are called Rockhopper is because they live in the rocks and hop everywhere, it's hilarious I could watch it all day. We also saw elephant seals and sea lions but they reeked ... read more

We woke to the first pouring rainstorm we have had thus far. Not a huge deal for us as we were Ferry hopping all day. But it was certainly a big deal for a young couple that was backpacking and hitch hiking . We ended up driving them to the first Ferry and riding it with them well as the second and third.....virtually spending the day with them. Nacho and Priscilla are from Chile. They are students backpacking on summer break. We learned some new Spanish words and in return taught them some English and how to play Loco Ocho ( crazy eights:) Soooo much fun! After a day of crazy long, stunningly beautiful drive we arrived at Chaiten. Driving in to Chaiten was like driving into a desolate ghost town, still in many places covered in ash. In 2008 Volcano Chaiten blew it's top......the town of was thankfully evacuated but the floods and ash destroyed much of the town. The town of Chaiten is a hub for taking ferries to the main land of Chile, there are a few different options for ferries but as we have discovered schedules change often and the ferry company closes at 2pm. We made it just before it closed and found out we had 3 options 1. turn back and go over the Argentine border again and then back into main land Chile 2. wait for 5 days in Chaiten to catch the big ferry ... read more

Right now we're driving through a valley with giant mountains on either side following a river, every time I look up I see unbelievable beauty! The babes are napping ( ahhh silence ) the beauty of RVing :) After almost a month of being away its hard to describe the feeling of reflection and joy.....feeling so connected and content, to quote good old many Aha moments. Staying as present in the moment as possible has being my biggest gift. I left with some expectations and at the same time no expectations. We have seen and experienced so much in just a month it's mind blowing. I can't imagine what the next months will bring. Its a crazy simple life. "Life isn’t a destination it’s a journey. We all come upon unexpected curves and turning points, ... read more
