Thats so interesting Allyssa. Especially the drama masks. I'm teaching at Willotten SHS at the moment on my ten week prac so if we get into greek theatre or commedia dell'arte ill have to quote you and steal your photos! hehe

xx
statue hey alyssa. i love looking at all your photos, it was only recently that i was in paris myself. i think that your unknown statue is at the place d'italie. i hope you knew how to say 'je ne parle pas francais' or 's'il vous plait, vous parlez anglais?' and that you had a good time. all the best. faye xx
France AND Italy Now I'm really jealous - The amount of stuff I've learnt about different structures in those places and you've seen them! Ah well it is great to hear about them from you. And for future reference, "Je suis desolee, Je ne parle pas Francias" is I am sorry, I don't speak French. Be mindful that I'm sure I've missed out some sort of verb or something in there cause its from old memories but its close! :P HAve a very merry WHITE Christmas away from home love Maree xxx
MILAN!` Wow! You went to Milan! And met Leonardo (kinda). That's awesome. Sorry I haven't commented recently (at all). I'm going to go back and comment on all your entries. I have been reading though, and thinking of you and praying for you. We had some bad weather over here, but it's finally all summery and christmassy and I can't wait for the 25th! And to see you again!
*Hugs you*
I enjoyed all your pointers for a budget stay in Paris!! There certainly is lots of walking involved! I loved your photo of the under belly of La Tour Eiffel!! It is always fun looking out for those different perspectives. Well done!
i had to laugh when i saw the starbucks picture and you wrote "...we need an American 'fast food' coffee shops inside world famous french art museums!" yeah, it's so true! americans can keep their junky resurants in their own country....:)
Ah, Paris I've had so many friends go to Europe, it feels like I've travelled it already cause we've heard about/seen pics of so much of it (hence the planned trip to the US!). But now I woudn't mind checking out Paris! I get excited about seeing the lights of Perth lit up at Christmas let alone The City of Love! :-)
I am so totally jealous too! It's so amazing seeing all the pictures you took of the actual places.. It must of felt so magical being there! But I am glad I get to slightly experience it with you by reading your blogs.. so thanks for that and keep it up!!
I'm on teaching prac atm at Christian Boys College in Freo. All boys! I have to teach yr 8's and 9's today so I think I'll go make some last minute touch ups. Keep those blogs coming!

Transport IS confusing! I too know that from experience. I once aimlessly followed "Einbahn" signs in circles for 40 minutes (yes, read 40 minutes), thinking that it meant "Underground Metro". My logic stemmed from me knowing that "Bahnoff" (German for train station) has "bahn" in it as well. For others that don't know, "Einbahn" means "One Way". The end.
nein das ist mein kangaruhe! (oh dear that's not how u spell it) bahahaha! no kangaroos in austria that is gold! awww how annoying about snoring girl! i'm glad the breadrolls were ther for u in ur time of distress. cool to hear about the death of a salesman set, we did that play in high school hey? ur very cultured indeed miss alyssa davis.
OK I was kind of already jealous, now I hate your guts. I love that movie... as in I have the 35th anniversary DVD and CD, and went to teh SIng-a-long when it came to Perth, dressed as a brown paper package tied up with string. I think I'm going to go cry now.
Oops Uhh...again I have to correct myself. I have just been informed by my dad that Tana Toraja is in Sulawesi...Sorry guys...I'm beginning to get a little embarrassed now...But I hope you'll all have a little patience, cos think about all the different countries I've learned about in my life, right? How am I supposed to remember everything about every country? :P
Hi Alyssa!! this is jacki from uni here. Lol i only just realised I could put comments on this blog. Where are you staying in Freiburg??? (And when are you getting there?) I've never been to Oktoberfest so it's cool seeing what it's actually like.
the german train system seems to be v. cheap for earlybird fares, it's when you want to book a ticket for the same day that you have trouble. if you want to travel a long distance, try and buy a ticket for a fixed train (not an open ticket). it means if you miss the train, you're screwed, but it's much cheaper than having an open ticket.
hope you're having fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!
awwww buddy bears awwwww... so cute and funny... but i can imagine up close slightly scary! glad to hear that facebook saved the day, imaginary myspace alyssa is gonna be soooo jealous! sounds like ur having a super fun time and i hope u hav lots more grillfests!
Haha Grillfest! Those crazy Germans Hey Alyssa! Finally got a chance to read your blog, im looking forward to hearing more about your travels and exchange! Where in Germany are you going again? Was it Freiburg? Sorry i cant remember. And I agree, Museum Island rocks! Despite its cheesy name :)
Ick bin ein Berliner It's not bad German, it's Berliner German :-D
"Ick" is the berliner pronounciation of "Ich" and is famous for having being said by John F. Kenedy in Berlin after the wall came down.
hey you crazy autobahn story! i'd be freaked out, but it seems like you're managing it quite well with everything! I love how you write! you make it feel like i'm there with you and experiencing all the excitement too.....it's great!
Good point you actually bring up a good point here, maree. many people who don't speak german probably woudn't know what the Autobahn is and I didn't expalin it! My apologies! It's the German freeway, eycept different to the Aussie freeway, it's actually free...as in you can usually go whatever speed you want to (although there are some areas where they signpost speed limits).
I'm an Australian going to be finishing off my arts degree at Albert-Ludwigs University in Freibug, Germany. I'll also be trying to fit in as much travelling around Europe as possible! :)... full info
