photo 16What a fantastic place to visit. Although when travelling from the airport the scenery looks quite grim, when arriving to the main town of Reykjavik the views are fabulous. There are some amazing volcanic hikes to do and many tours to take. We chose to go whale watching but didn't spot any whales or any fish for that matter! Wherever you go staff cannot do enough to help you.

in March time the temperature mirrored that of the UK and was a consistent 3 deg. The Golden Circle tour is well worth it as there are some fantastic views and the Geysir spouting hot springs are fantastic to see. We chose to do this tour on our own rather than with a group which gave us more flexibility.

The Blue Lagoon is another great place to visit. the geothermal spa is in a lava field south of Reykjavik. We spent several hours here to relaxing in the milky blue-green water of the huge outdoor lagoon. The sensation of lying in a warm outdoor spa surrounded by snowfields is uniquely relaxing.

The Northern Lights tour was truly amazing. The coach party were taken approximately 1 hours drive away from

photo 1the light pollution that the town created. The driver parked up at a disused house on the top of a hill where we could see the town in the distance but had clear view of the dark sky. We were standing around waiting for nearly 3 hours waiting for the sky to change colour. Only when most had given up hope of seeing anything and headed back onto the coach did the whole sky turn green. It changed pattern and colour constantly within the 3 or 4 minutes we viewed until the sky went dark again.
