Cotswolds Hi Ann,
Yes, went to Upper and Lower Slaughter, Broadway, Snowshill, Cirencester, Stow-in-the wold, Burford and Stanton. Not bad considering the snow,
Cheers,
Jan
hi Hey mum n dad, well thats great that the weather/snow hasnt stopped you from having a ball. i was worried that it would as i hated it in vancouver for the 2 weeks i experienced it. how are you going driving in it? yeah thought you would have been worried hearing the devastating news of the VIC fires. Peats ridge isnt doing too well either. I ahve kept an ear out to see whether it would travel to wollombi, but no news as yet. we are lucky its pretty cold now, bit of rain and overcast at 20-22 degrees, so its lovely. nice to be able to get a full nights sleep instead of having to sleep through the heat. what are your flight details for coming home? are you coming on a day flight or night flight on the 20th? send me the details of your flight to sydney would be great.
Anyways keep safe and contacts us when you get to cairo.
love ya both heaps. deeks xoxox
IT'S BEEN SO HOT HERE!! Was surprised to read that you actually made into the Cotswolds as we've been hearing stories of the difficult travelling conditions in England. Don't forget to visit Upper and Lower Slaughter while you're there. Looking forward to seeing quaint pictures of you and Ross standing by cute water wheels in front of thatched roof cottages. All here are "feeling" for the Victorians who have lost their homes and families and friends in the fires. BUT as usual the Aussies are supporting the victims in countless different ways. Take care of yourselves. LOVE ANN
Hi Ann,
I'm responding to all your comments here. Yes, there are quite a few gum trees around Cape Town now and the people are just wonderful.
We have just come back from a day at Robben Island where Nelson Mandela was incarcerated and ex-political pisoners show you around. Although it was a terrible time for them, they do not bear grudges and South Africa is, I think, a much more pleasant place than when you were here.
The church was huge and it's a wonder the roof didn't fall in when Ross and I went in.
Keep the comments coming,
Cheers,
Jan
Hi Deb,
Yes, I'm just about to add a picture of the vegetables. I have finally found an internet cafe. (Have been having withdrawls!)
How is Macquarie World going? Have you seen Andrew?
Cheers,
Jan
Hi Karen,
It's great to hear from you. I have had trouble getting to the internet as we have been travelling so much, but am in Capetown now before flying out tomorrow for England where it will be freezing.
You'll all have to help me catch up when I get back,
Cheers,
Jan
ICT Latest Hi Jan
The wedding photos are lovely... what a beautiful occasion it must have been.
We've been busy today learning and discussing lots about social networking...using me.edu.au in particular. Yes, dear. It's all awaiting you on your return:)
Keep on having fun.
Cheers
Karen
Jamie's Wedding Jan this is the second comment I've written. My other one is out there, somewhere in cyberspace. I see such a CARRIER resemblance in Jamie's photo. She looks beautiful.
CAPE TOWN Great photos of Cape Town, Jan, brought back lots of memories. Are those gum trees I can see in the background? John and I were in Cape Town in 1973, when it was a segregated city, so my impression of the Cape Town society is very different from yours BUT I agree the countryside was very similar to parts of New South Wales. Thank you for your blogs. LOVE ANN
THE S.A. BARBECUE The thing that I noticed in these photos Jan, was that BOTH the men and the women are huddled around the cooking lamb together!! How very different from our Aussi braai. Don't those springboks know that the guys and their beers are supposed to do the cooking, while the women sit under the pergola preparing the 'slaw and solving the problems of the world. LOVE ANN
Jamie's Wedding Dear Leolady, I loved the photos of Jamie's wedding and notice a strong Carrier trait in the bride. And what about that church's spire!!!! It looks like a skinny ladder for the congregation to climb. LOVE ANN
All sounds wonderful Hi Jan
Great to read about your trip so far. Apart from the long haul over there it sounds like you're ahving a wonderful time. Your blog is very impressive. I will have to get lessons from you before I leave on my trip to Spain.

Hi,
Ross and I are leaving for South Africa on Tuesday, 20th January and will be home again on Friday, 20th February. During our trip we will be going to our niece, Jaimee's wedding in Cape Town, chilling out in the Cotswolds (England) and embarking on a Nile River cruise. Can't wait!
Depending on access to the internet I hope to be able to post some photos of our trip along the way and look forward to your comments as well.
The two maps below show: 1. where we have been and are going and 2. Our travel route (satellite view is best.)
