Antarctica » Antarctica October 16th 2017

Have you ever dreamt of reaching the world’s end? Maybe meet Santa in the North Pole or maybe follow the adventures of Shackleton. Ernest Shackleton would be the far most popular personality being linked with Antarctica. He and his 27 men endured nearly 2 years of challenges when they got stranded in a pack of ice in Antarctica. Antarctica is the southernmost continent, take note it is a continent. Which contains geographically the South Pole, one of the world’s end. Given it as a continent, it is the 5th largest continent almost twice that of Australia measuring at 14,000,000 square kilometers. Approximately 1,000-5,000 human beings reside in the continent merely for research purposes only. Some interesting facts as well is that Antarctica is governed by the Antarctica Treaty System, wherein 12 countries signed in 1959 and ... read more

Have you ever wanted to travel back in time during the Spanish colonial times? There are a lot of places around the country where you can experience such. Different Spanish artifacts and structures are all over the continent. Churches, cobbled streets, and dishes are the most common traces of Spanish colonial times in the country. This one site I have visited really had a grasp on my curiosity, Calle Crisologo in Vigan. Calle Crisolog or Mena Crisologo Street depicts the luscious lifestyle our ancestors once lived because of the Manila-Acapulco maritime trade. Filipino-Chinese traders took advantage of the trade industry offering goods ranging from abel cloth, indigo, gold, tobacco and other goods that were transported to Vigan from all over the North. A stretch of cobbled street lined with old houses, calesas along side the ... read more

Moving on ladies and gentlemen, on to the next part of the journey. This time let me take you to another Ilocandia treasure, the Bantay Bell Tower. The church where the belfry is situated is know with different names by- St. Augustine Parish Church, Shrine of Our Lady of Charity, or Bell Church. The tower was built in 1591 which served as a watchtower to fend of attackers from World Wars I and II and the Spanish colonial period. The tower is strategically situated on a hill giving a 360-view of the town. Locals claim that it serves as an excellent vantage point of the entire Ilocus Sur. Certainly a place for travelers to visit not only for its historical significance and grandeous architectural design but also offers a invigorating panoramic view of the beauty the ... read more

This was the first stop for our Ilocos trip. The famous Quirino bridge, a tourist attraction and an iconic symbol of Ilocus Sur preserved by it's local government is a sight not to miss when visiting Ilocos region. We opt not to stop and view the bridge from the view deck but rather drive through it, stop at the other side and take a short walk along the bridge. The symbolic bridge was built to honor the late President Elpidio Quirino but was damaged during one of the super typhoons to hit Philippines. The Macapagal government built a new bridge just beside the old one and is now accesses by travelers as well as locals. Approaching the bridge along side the mountain was as scenic as the bridge itself. Traversing the Abra river, the bridge connects ... read more

GREETINGS FROM THE CITY FROM UP ABOVE!.. Yesterday had the time to discover and roam around the city of pines and search for hidden treasures where people can have a great time. Basically searching a new place to hang out. I dragged along my special someone to head out the streets and start searching. After minutes of thinking where to go, we decided to try out Arca's Yard. I've heard decent responses about the place and also good reviews from social media sites and from different travel blogs. If I may visualize the place for you guys, the set up is basically a residential building converted into a mini library, mini museum, mini restaurant, mini coffee shop. There is something about this place where they keep things at a least or simply discrete. But rest assured ... read more
