Tokyo Disney!
Wow! What a blast! And to go for free. A child's education is richer when there are things the teacher and the student have in common and can share a common experience, especially one like that! I know you are having the time of your life, and I want you to know we miss you at B&BW. Take care and I love keeping in touch!

?? what is that on the manhole cover ??
Hey LebdaWho - thanks for including the manhole cover in your pictures. What is that on this one? I think that is one of the coolest things for each city in Japan to do. I miss the food and the special touches about each place and the shopping! You have some really great pictures here. Can't wait till your next blog! Love you, LebdaWhen.

LebdaWhen here - what a great tour guide Kathryn has become! We have enjoyed every second of our adventure - even the 5.8 earth quake Tuesday afternoon - my head still thinks the floor is rocking & rolling. On to Sapporo today visiting the brewery.

what lovely people
Kathryn, What lovely people you have traveling with you! I know that they very much enjoyed the wonderfully fresh shrimp and crab lunch you took them to, and the friendly taxi driver. May I also say that I never seen such small bathrooms before in my life! What a big opened beautiful city Hakodate is, and the cherry blossoms are absolutely beautiful! Can't wait to read the next blog! LebdaWhen

So beautiful.....
Kathryn, your cherry blossoms are truly beautiful. They are so pink compared to the ones in Washington, DC. I can not wait to see them for myself. Please get them to stay opened until I get there to see them. I have been reading everything Japan I can. I am so ready to be there and see these beautiful trees and YOU. See you soon, LebdaWhen

Lots of "cold" fun
Hey LebdaWho - what great fun! Looks like you & co had a great weekend. You need to take a picture of your new necklace so that we can see it. The ice sculptures are awesome! I am so glad that you posted so many pictures of them. The video of you on the ice slide is great - so good to hear your laughter. Sorry about your cold - time to go to the doctor???? Hugs & kisses, Love you, Mom

What a great vacation
Kathryn - what a great vacation! I am so glad that you had the chance to see old friends and eat at some of your favorite places from your semester at school there. I have heard so much about these places that I still want to see Kyoto, Osaka and Kansai even if it is not when we come over this April. These are some great pictures - thanks for making the place real for the rest of us.

Cold
I am so sorry that you are so very cold! If it makes you feel any better it was 27 degrees in North Carolina this morning. Dad says he is ready for another snow storm (like the 2 feet we had in 2000). Guess I better fill the pantry with supplies. We would love for you to send a couple of inches of your snow here for Christmas. Sending warm (and loving) thoughts your way! LebdaWhen

i think it's the price of electricity and the energy output. i have a small space heater and it doesn't heat up all that much. the lack of insulation is also a big part of how cold it is here as well. whenever i go back home i'll be so happy for insulation and central heating. i'll be soaking it up for days!
15th December 2007

ha ha... I have heard people say that they have never been so cold in their lives as when in Australian winter... We also dont have central heating... but i think it is colder in japan. Maybe it uses a lot of electircity? or the houses are older than when central heating was invented?

A Mac in the family?
Who would have thought there would come a day when there would be a Mac in the family? I can't wait to see how this one plays out. Of course as long as you are happy and this Mac sends blogs & e-mails home it is OK with me. So better keep typing while you're not traveling. Take care my love! LebdaWhen (alias Mom)

A Mac? Welcome to the Dark Side!
Kathryn: I'm having lots of fun traveling with you via your blog; sorry to hear about the demise of your Thinkpad, but glad to know you're all set up...even if it is a Mac, much to your Dad's dismay. Macs are all we use, so we're fans for sure. I bet you'll love it! We're getting ready for Christmas here, and we've even had some snow! All three of our kids will be home; can't wait! Work is crazy-busy, that's a good thing. Think of you every day, so far far away. You are (have always been) very brave!!! Hope all's well! xo
