hi, thanks for an interesting article! solar cooking is an excellent way to cook food without wasting fuel or heating up your kitchen. we especially like dehydrating fruit, bananas and mangoes turn out great!!
Lightning Man Your picture of "An interesting insect" reminds me of "Lightning Man" at Nourlangie. I am sure others have said the same thing.
As far as Hannibal the giant crocodile, I still think he is over 7 metres. We were lucky to see him close up like you.
Kakadu rocks. We were there in February 2008 and that is a great time of the year to go and experience the great days mixed with enormous afternoon storms. Stayed at the "Giant Croc" at Jabiru - good rooms great, breakfast but felt spoilt in nature's great outdoors!
Albert Namatjira Grave What a beautiful headstone for one of Australias FINEST man. I have always loved him, even tho i never knew him personally, I only wish I had. I grew up admiring his Ghost Gums, and couldn"t get enough information on him. I taught Aboriginal children at school about him, and Ihope they grow up to enjoy his paintings just as I have. Thank you for putting his burial site on the net to share with us who can"t get there to see it in person. When I found this site it made me a bit sad, as I feel he was a part of me.

darwin winter Alas but no rain, no humidity and no severe wild storms...............why else would you live in Darwin.....dont be mislead by only visiting in the dry which is also a wonderful climate.
hi there hi,
I'm a design student and an architect here in India and I'm researching on the problems that tourists face while finding there way in Indian Cities. Please mail me your comments, ideas, observations on this. I'm based in Delhi and this research is for the improvement of signage systems in the city.
Thanks
Raman

Thanks Larry - you are a master of an art that most others (and I included myself in this group) have failed at - writing a blog that is both highly informative whilst remaining thoroughly entertaining.
We are about to embark on a Lhasa to Nepal trip and I found your blogs a goldmine of useful information. Cheers and happy travel, Robbie.
nice travelblog you have Hey Larry - and Margaret, we were just taking a look at your blogspot. So nice, and pleasant to read! Many greetings, also to Sue. tine -johan (from the bus)
I'm now a retired Melbourne-based Australian secondary school teacher. Back in 2007 I took some LSL & travelled a bit of Asia; I taught in outback WA in 2008, was part of some social justice trips to Southern India in 2009, 2010 & 2013. I've also managed some other smaller, but no less exciting, travel along the way.
It seems I got really lazy, as I neglected this travel blog between 2013 & 2018 despite having most worthy material to write about. During this time I was lucky enough to squeeze in more travel to parts of Sri Lanka, USA, New Zealand, Turkey, Vietnam, Hobart & Perth.
