Lucky you Lauren, you are so lucky because able to climb this volcano. I have been there last year and preparing to do the same but there is a situation where i have to go back and cannot continue to do my plan. Congrats :)
How to visit San Valentino We want to visit as well because my mother in law's family was from there. Can you tell us how we would get there from Rome? Does the trai
Station go by there? Is there a bus? Do we need a car? There will be six of us.
Getting to San Valentino Sorry for this late response. I went by train to pescara, which is about 20/30 minutes from San Valentino in a car. My cousin was able to pick me up from the train station, but there is a bus that will take you from the train station directly to the piazza in San Valentino. Unfortuntately, I have always either traveled with someone with a car, or was picked up by relatives, so I don't know any of the specifics
Hostel I am going to Rome in a few weeks and I would like to stay at a hostel. I am wondering if you would recommend where you stayed and what the name is. Was it close to the subway?
Great photos Lauren, you took some great shots of Rome. The pictures are just great and make me want to visit again. I love the descriptions -- Love, Mom
From one abruzzese to another... What an amazing experience! I didn't think they still did the siestas...gotta get out of the big cities more often!

It's so true!!! Yes, my Laurie, people used to warm weather are wimps when it is cool - even if "cool" means 70+ degrees. We used to see that in Florida when we went to Disney World. You guys would be swimming because it was 75, and the floridians would be dressed in sweaters and windbreakers - go figure???? Lovees, Lovees, LOVEES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
nice photo Lauren, for a slight rant, this was rather tame for you. I think it was definitely more of an observation -- an a true one at that. I am so happy spring is there! it is actually getting nicer here but it seem to be high one minute and low the next. Love you - Mom
Wonderful Hi, Lauren -- what a wonderful summary of your weekend! You did a good job of describing the stuff and I love the photos of the house where was born (or whats left of it). I thought they were making a stable ot of it but i guess not yet. I love the descriptons and the photos -- good job! Love, Mom
What a nice end to your visit Hi, Honey -- well, it is clear that you did not love Catania but it did have some nice things. The pasta party sounds like you had a lot of fun -- nice to catch up with other folks who are traveling. Nice relaxing way to end your visit so it left a nice taste for your trip to Sicily. Love, Mom
Fun to read Hello, my Laurie. I am sorry that Cantania was not so much fun. However, I was happy to read that the night life saved the day in the end. I really love reading your blog, and I will comment from now on when I do. Lovees. daddy.
I enjoyed your Italy post. My blog is looking for travel photos. If you have the time, check us out at dirty-hippies.blogspot.com
Continued fun on your travels,
Eric
Gorgeous What beautiful views even if you had to be scared to death to ride the cable car -- the view was worth it! I hate the going down part (which is the opposite of you) but it was lovely so i am glad you went -- Love, Mom
Lovely Photos of a beautiful place I am so glad the sun came out and you could join the beauty -- it is lovely. I knew turpentine would get paint out but i thought it would ruin your dress -- nice to know i was wrong. The amphitheatre looks amazing -- and is very good condition given how old it is. Looks like it turned out to be fun -- Love, Mom
What a ride I think that it is so cool that the train ended up on a boat - who would have thought! It is a pretty cool story to tell. Well, the rain forced you guys to relax -- what a shame your first day was not sunfilled! Love, Mom
Hey Lauren,
I enjoyed your Napoli post. It reminded me of my time there. My blog is looking for some good travel photos. If you have the time, email us some at dirtyhippiesblog@gmail.com or check us out at dirty-hippies.blogspot.com
Continued fun on your travels,
Eric
Good job Lauren, I am so proud of you for actually going up that volcano (including walking along the very narrow trail). Knowig how much you hate heights, it was petty cool that you did it. Well, I am very happy you did not twist, sprain, break your ankle on the way down. You would have been miserable (not a very pretty sight). I love the pictures and the way you tell it. Love you, Mom
Sounds like fun visits Lauren, these tours sounded like a lot of fun (even if the time was long). You made it real which is great for me -- it was nice to get your feelings about what you were seeing. I have never been to Herculaneum either -- we will have to go there sometime! I love Pompei so its hard to believe some other place is even better. I never did the underground in Naples -- if its a lot of going thru tunnels , would not be my thing but I am glad you got to see it Sounds like a fun time there -- Love, Mom
Naples I had hoped you would like Naples a little more but it seems you saw the best (along with the not so good). Shopping thru the window sounds like it must have been pretty cool. I love that bargaining back and forth (wish I could do it but I just fold). Naples is set in such a beautiful part of Italy -- nice that you could see that beauty. Maybe Tamar remembers the pizzeria's name. We can have a list of restaurants to go back to .
Sounds like so much fun Lauren, it sounds lik an absolutely lovely visit to a city you absolutely loved several years. You made it so real -- i could see you there, having fun. I am glad you chose to study in Bologna cause it gave you more exposure to real italian life vs all the tourists in florence. I am really enjoying your blog -- glad you are doing it! Love, Mom
correction Can you update the recipe with the 1/2 cup of red wine and the 300 grams of "passata" di tomatoes ? also, you use bay leaf in he description - you can use it in the ingrediens too -- lovies, Mom
I am spending four months in Bologna, Italy to study, with many weekends dedicated to exploring Europe and other cities in Europe. here's so everyone can keep up with what i'm doing. ... full info
