Not the best pıctures as my camera memory card ıs full so we used the camera that I cannot download photos from. You wıll all see them when we get home. We left Selcuk and took a long and wındey bus trıp throught the mountaıns to the medıterranean sea and fethıye. Just as we arrıved ın town the mother of all storms hıt us and we spent the best 10 bucks of the trıp on a cab to the hotel. I mean ıt was 5:00 pm and totally dark because of the clouds. The power went out just as we got to the hotel too. It only lasted for an hour or so then we had a nıce dınner ın town. The next day we set out on our three day tour on a gullett boat. ... read more

Well what can I say about Berlin except that ıt was wonderful. Truly. I would add an exlamatıon poınt but there ıs no such key on thıs Turkısh keyboard... It was too bad that Colin was sıck whıle we were there as the city had a lot to offer and even though he trıed hıs best he just wasn't feelıng up to ıt some tımes. I especıally loved that ıt felt lıke a cıty that people lıved ın, ın that every neıghborhood seemed to have ıts own set of cool shops, restaurants, gallerıes and bars. Super publıc art. Also the shoppıng was really top notch. I scored some really nıce boots and Colın found some great shırts. Plus we kept fındıng these great housewares stores that made us go crazy as they are the type of ... read more

So many of you have already heard but we thought we should make an official announcment that we got engaged a few days ago in Cesky Krumlov in the Czech Republic. (we are in Berlin now, writing this, and about to fly to Turkey). It was wonderful. But first a few words about Krumlov! Cesky Krumlov was beautiful! After the worst bus ride of all time. Really. Our bus to CK from Prague not only broke down, but after we switched buses we then got into an accident in the new bus. For real. We rear-ended a van. And they also oversold the seats so that there were several people who had to stand the whole time (right beside us, of course, all hot and leaning on us) and that would have been ok for those ... read more

Europe » Czech Republic » Prague October 2nd 2007

Hi Everyone. Well, we have rejoined the rains of Europe.....good thing we are well prepared to handle it now. Unfortunately, the day it rained we decided it was going to be hot and wore our short sleeves and sandals. I guess it was just a good excuse to go shopping at H and M. We also hit some of the inside attrations. The museum of communinism was really interesting and had a good display. We mostly just stayed indoors and drank coffee. We were a little more careful in which cafes we went to than the previous day in Prague when we had a lovely 7.50 CAD each cappuchino at the Grand Praha Cafe. Whoops. Heather did say they had the nicest bathrooms in Eastern Europe. Nightime was a little dryer, but still cold. Walked the ... read more

Hi everyone. I have to be quick.....my time is up in seven minutes. Prague is so much better than either of us thought it would be. It is almost surreal. I guess it is because no one can afford to live in the old town. We splurged on our first thing this trip...besides food....and bought a horse carrige ride through the old town at night. It was really a good spend, until I started having an allergic reaction to the stupid horses about half way through the trip. I had some red, puffy eyes afterwards. Our last day in Hungary was a bummer. We recieved some bad intel from Rick Steeves and bought the wrong metro line ticket on our way to the train station and, of course, got busted by the subway gestapo. It was ... read more

Hey everyone, no pics today but just a quick note to tell you what we have been up to in Budapest. It is really great here, the wine and food are sooo much better than anything we have experienced yet. As you can imagine, we have mostly been drinking and eating!! We have had some of the best wines we have ever had before for about 6.00 a bottle. We went to the baths yesterday, which was really cool, one of the pools had a really stong current that pushed you along in circles and that was funny. Bunch of bobbing heads flying by in circles. We also found one of the nicest markets we have ever seen for produce. Granville Island is starting to seem pretty small after some of the places we have found. ... read more

Hey everyone, we finally found a computer to upload some pics so I am going to try and upload as many as I can going all the way back to Vienna and then through Croatia. We are loving Budapest and have decided to stay 5 nights instead of 3 here and explore some of the Hungarian contryside. I think my intial itnerary may have been a bit ambitious so we are going to take it a bit slower than I thought we would-- which is nice anyways as it is often the smaller places which are more fun. Our apartment here is huge-- not sure if Colin already posted about this-- easily 500 sq ft. and full of antiques and velvets- so we don't mind spending some extra time here!! xx heather... read more

Europe » Croatia » Dalmatia » Korcula September 18th 2007

Hi all. Unfortunately we have not come into contact with any computers that allow us to post photos. Korcula in Croatia was incredible. Really quite astounding. We arrived off the ferry from Dubrovnik and got taken to a Sobe (homestay) with a tiny old man in the center of the old town. We wanted to rent an apartment with a kitchen and our own bathroom. Turns out this guy was renting out his basement with a hide-a-bed and a hot plate, so we said no. He was a little mad but we trecked off in search of a better place. We were picked up by a english speaking Croatian who wanted to rent us his place, but no kitchen so he took us to his "friends" place. Turns out they didn't have a kitchen either, but ... read more
