They say that the first half of your trip crawls by, while the second half of your trip flies by---so far, this has been true for me. If it wasn't entirely obvious in my last entry (and I'm sorry it's been so long since I've written. As much as I love to inform you all of this grand adventure, I tend to forget to write in my paper journal, so 20 years from now this will be the place I turn to remember what I did--so I hate to slack on my entries) I was really sad to leave Paris, despite the fact I do know I'll be back (possibly sooner than later). This made the 6 hour train ride from Paris to Munich a little bit bitter sweet. On the train I was sitting with ... read more

I'm not sure how I've managed to spend nine days here already. It's gone by very quickly. Part of me is ready to move on, but the other part of me just wants to stay. Actually, it would be great just to move hostels and then I could get a new perspective. Although this hostel is really nice, and I wouldn't find one this modern/clean probably. If you're ever in France I recommend it. There's a bar/restaurant, and a club in the basement that doubles as a chill out room in the day. An internet cafe (with an actual cafe part), curtains on your bed, and you're right on one of the main metro lines. Plus i get along with the staff really well. Now they just give me their keys and I can basically do ... read more

I'm actually just killing some time right now---waiting to have dinner with someone. I'm exhausted. I hardly slept last night because I had to move rooms, and was sharing with about eight 18 year old girls who think it's le awesome to turn on the light and be as loud as they can at 4am. Lucky for them i was drunk(ish) and therefore didn't really have will power to yell at them. You know what's a good idea?? Making friends with the people who work at your hostel. I'm sure i've said this before. This is my only advice to give anyone. Living or dead. Basically, we were all exhausted, and because now my parisian passe has basically disbanded (as four out of the six members have left town) the rest of us were exhausted, plus ... read more

I have fallen in love with a girl. Her name is Paris. I think we will be very happy together. Although she is a bit of a gold digger and so my bank account seems to be draining quickly. Lucky for me VISA is a giant jerkstore so I still have no real access to my account, meaning that shopping is difficult. Guess where I am? Paris! But for the sake of linear content to my traveling rambles, I will rewind a little and take you back to Germany. The land of drinking with Jessi, cute German men, and German children who think it's hilarious I can't understand what they are saying. I ended up staying in Heidelberg and extra night, so I left on Saturday morning the same day that Jessi left for Italy to ... read more

I am in Germany safe and sound. I hate to say it, but the following entry will probably have a lot of typos. Like more than the various number I often have. On German keyboards the y and the z are in different places. I spent 10 minutes trying to find the @ symbol, and I have to do a bunch of complicated manoevers to get it. I have no idea where the question mark is, or a few other punctuation keys. Perhaps I will attempt to write this entire thing without those letters or signs. I am quite sad to be gone from Ireland. I had a great time with Angela and her friend Teresa on my last day. (It is next to impossible to not use the letter y). We drove around to a ... read more

I'm finally out of Galway. Weirdly, it was very hard to leave. I had this sad little goodbye on a rainy day. Before the goodbye though.... On Thursday I met a girl from Toronto named Agnes who was living/traveling in Asia for over a year. She was now doing three months of Europe before returning home. We decided to do a bus tour of Connemera. Because I'm like a POWER theatre nerd, I just wanted to go because the tour stopped in Leenane (the place of the Martin McDonagh trilogy). The town itself is small and right on the water in the moutains. It's beautiful, but on a rainy day you can easily see where he pulled all that "coldness" from when he was writing them. I couldn't stop myself from thinking, "is that Maureen's house?!". ... read more

I'm assuming you're wondering where I went. Mostly, I've been living the Irish dream. And by that I mean drinking. And by that I mean I've had more to drink that someone of my height/weight should probably consume in four days, but that is Irish culture. I thought the exessive amounts of drinking was just a stereotype, it is not. Irish people like to drink, and so does Jessi, so it's been a good time. Early Monday morning Jessi met me in Dublin. She's still as funny looking as I remembered, but I decided to have pity on here. After a quick breakfast we got on the train and made it to Killarney. Killarney is a tiny town, but it's beautiful. We had no idea before, but it turns out, it's also a bit of a ... read more

I really wasn't going to write on here today--but here I am. The hostel, unlike London, actually has cheap internet. One euro for as long as you want. Compared to the 4 euros/hour most of the internet cafes around here seem to charge--yet they're always full. Guess what? Dublin is actually more expensive than London. They don't have the pound, but they just increase the amount of Euros. Annoying. Again--this makes me want to stay here for a shorter time and run off to the continent where things are cheaper. Last night when I got back to my room, even though it was only 11pm--everyone was asleep. So in the dark I attempted to get ready. I am no Stevie Wonder so this is quite the challenge. And by that I mean I'm not black. Obviously. ... read more

Here I am in my father's country. Sort of. There are a lot of pubs here, but no lawn mowers, so we're 50/50 here. I wish I had my green coat so I could do my famous jig. All the plane, train, bus business of today really wore me out. I seem to have a knack for getting to a city and being confused as to where my hostel is. The people here are FAR friendlier than London already--so that's been nice. I had a wee bit of a delay on my flight, so I didn't actually land until about 5pm, so by the time I took the bus (the driver hit on me, he had nice blue eyes and a nicer accent. I have made a promise to myself to keep my clothes on in ... read more

I'm a lucky girl. 1. Workshop in Calgary for one week with personal hero--where not only was she super nice, but I loved the work we were doing. I happen to be very good at finding heros who are nice. 2. Having lovely friends and family who did special things to make this trip better. Cards/money, hugs--my TA girls (and Hisham) giving me that lovely coat (which has been really handy as it's been cold and windy and rainy here a lot). 3. Just being able to take this trip. 4. Staying with the nicest people possible! When my mom was in Africa, she met Judith--from England. They stayed in touch, and Judith agreed to let me stay with her and her family in Lewes--which is south of England. Close to Brighton. I was a little ... read more
